Jenkins, Higgins were great pickups

Jenkins cost us next to nothing, a late pick in the draft in which we picked up Max Holmes.
Higgins was a waste. No cats fan disagrees.

Pretty sobering when you realise Lynch has taken the most contested marks in the league over the past decade and averages the most goals this year. Don’t see that in your stat sheet.

Pretty sobering when you realise contested marks don’t add squat to the scoreboard for the teams he has played for.

If Usain Bolt played AFL you know he’d probably never have to ever take a contested mark, right?

what use is a contested mark if it doesn't result in a goal or goal assist though?

Not sure what the last decade has to do with anything? Are they picking AA teams on your glory days?

Scoring metrics - Tom clearly the most complete game.

you have missed one very important stat

most goals created from turnovers forced by pressure acts

I have provided you a link for your enjoyment

here is the table that's relevant

There is only 1 KPF on this list, and he has played less game than all the other KPF that are in contention but he still wins in this stat.

Guess what, its Tom Lynch !

Brad Close for AA squad.

Couldn't find a column to sort that would get Tom off the bottom so I could screen shot him with the other three - stoppage metrics:

Huh? Sure, lol - he is great at waving his hands and pushing people. Really scares them.

Yes, he’s created goals, and as it’s a list of the top 10 only, for all anyone knows, player 11 could be Tom Hawkins. Unless you can tell us what Hawkins’ number is, and compare it to Lynch’s, and work out the difference then there is literally no conclusion to draw other than he’s better at it, possibly by heaps, possibly by a fraction of a point.

This would have been pretty scary lol

Is that why Geelong fans hate him?

Wtf hahahahahaha
Being able to take contested marks lead to more goal mate.

No I mean like most contested marks in one year since like 2012 or something.

Yep, that's great. I'm not saying he isn't a very good player - but his over all game doesn't stack up to the three key forwards ahead of him this year.

I get that he has missed games, but they wont pick the team based on what he has done or might have done.

Maybe on the bench, but four kpfs is a bit much.

No, they don’t.

The ball
Doesn’t know whether the person kicking it had to compete for it or not.

How can you not grasp this?

Yes it’s a great skill to have. However it literally does not matter one lick of s**t to the scoreboard if you still score through uncontested marks.

Are you seriously that thick that you can’t understand this?

If you’re a key forward and you can take a big contested mark in a pack of 2-3 players that’s fantastic.

Why is that more valuable than being able to continually get on the lead and take uncontested ones because your speed or positioning or leading pattern means you’re on your own?

As I said, Usain Bolt if he were an AFL forward would conceivably go through a season without having to even try and take a contested mark because he would always be getting into space.

To use an ACTUAL example, Jason Dunstall.

He was an inferior contested mark to Lockett and Ablett.

Didn’t seem to hurt his output much. Why? Because he was better at getting on a lead and not having to take a contested mark.

He misses because of those 4 games.

Maybe. Maybe he would have had a Barry Crocker in those games anyway?

No point imagining what might have happened, as I said.
no of course not,

but should imagine what Stewart would of done, that's why Stewart stays in the team, but Lynch is out, because, well because he plays for Geelong
