Every year I will petition for the following:I
All I want to know is this. If the cats win the flag this year, is there any chance you people can stop complaining and banging on about the same thing you complain about every year? It got old about 10 years ago and actually shits others to no end. Do we at least have your commitment to the cause here or can we expect to see you back again next August throwing the toys out of the cot like the rest of them?
Every year you say? Jeez. Keep us posted yea.Every year I will petition for the following:
1. Every club can choose where it plays its 11 home games. Fa.rk anyone who wants to choose where I as a member can see my club play its home games for another club's members (giving them priority)
2. Every club can choose where it plays home finals in weeks 1-3. The club members pay for the club and are the lifeblood. ripping the finals off them is s**t management. this only affects 4 clubs (geelong, north, dogs and saints) so should be an easy change no?
3. Rotate the grand final. In odd years play it at the G, in even years it goes SCG, AO, Optus, GABBA so they get it once every 8 years. Fairs fair, each of those states represents 1/8th of the comp so they should get 1/8th of the Grand Finals.
4. The fixture needs to either be 17 games (play everyone once), 26 games (play everyone three times over 2 years) or 34 games (play everyone twice). 22 worked when there was 12 teams, but we now have 18. Like the finals, it's time our "fixture" got modernised too.

This hasnt been the case for Victorian clubs since 1970 when VFL Park was introduced.Every year I will petition for the following:
1. Every club can choose where it plays its 11 home games. Fa.rk anyone who wants to choose where I as a member can see my club play its home games for another club's members (giving them priority)
Finals arent club games.2. Every club can choose where it plays home finals in weeks 1-3. The club members pay for the club and are the lifeblood. ripping the finals off them is s**t management. this only affects 4 clubs (geelong, north, dogs and saints) so should be an easy change no?
2 of 18 does not equal 1 of 83. Rotate the grand final. In odd years play it at the G, in even years it goes SCG, AO, Optus, GABBA so they get it once every 8 years. Fairs fair, each of those states represents 1/8th of the comp so they should get 1/8th of the Grand Finals.
Only thing you have a point with.4. The fixture needs to either be 17 games (play everyone once), 26 games (play everyone three times over 2 years) or 34 games (play everyone twice). 22 worked when there was 12 teams, but we now have 18. Like the finals, it's time our "fixture" got modernised too.
When you consider the travel, late arrival back to Geelong and unreliable VLine service it's unreasonable to expect families and the elderly to make the trip. Nothing to do with wanting it more. You're just trying to justify your loaded dice. How was a 2017 Friday night game at 7:50 more unsuitable for Geelong fans than Richmond fans? Was 2.5 hours not enough to travel the 77km from Kardinia Park to the MCG to watch your team play a final? How was it unsuitable for the 30,000 Geelong members in Melbourne?
Face it, you (collectively) just didn’t care enough, couldn’t be bothered, thought you’d save your money and tip it in to the budget for the prelim (that was a certainty in your minds) and/or the GF.
1/8th is a lot closer to 2/18ths than 0/8ths.. which is how often the other states currently get to host a GF in our National competition. Would you be okay with a schedule that has the GF played once each in NSW, WA, QLD and SA over a 9 year period? I think most interstate supporters would be really happy with that outcome.2 of 18 does not equal 1 of 8
FAIL
It's not going to happen, in our lifetimes anyway, so I don't know why so many cry about it.1/8th is a lot closer to 2/18ths than 0/8ths.. which is how often the other states currently get to host a GF in our National competition. Would you be okay with a schedule that has the GF played once each in NSW, WA, QLD and SA over a 9 year period? I think most interstate supporters would be really happy with that outcome.
Good maths1/8th is a lot closer to 2/18ths than 0/8ths..
What is meant by "host" a GF?which is how often the other states currently get to host a GF in our National competition.
I am happy with the current arrangement that maximises opportunity for club and AFL members to attend and have a chance to see their team in person at a GF.Would you be okay with a schedule that has the GF played once each in NSW, WA, QLD and SA over a 9 year period? I think most interstate supporters would be really happy with that outcome.
Yes totally agreed, this is where the AFL need to push back against the TV rights holder. My preference is the MCG, so long as cats fans from Geelong are considered in the ticketing and scheduling, as has been done this year. The AFL reserve and MCC are more complex to attempt to manipulate, but I can live with some inequity in these areas for the time being.
In 2017 and other years, you've had a situation where many Geelong fans couldn't get to the game due to the scheduling and Richmond was able to utilise Geelongs ticket allocation resulting in a particularly hostile environment for the home team. This is why many Geelong supporters are so adamantly opposed to playing home finals at the MCG. So long as this is not repeated, I'm good with the MCG.
If it’s unfair to the elderly and families in Geelong it’s also unfair to those same people in Cranbourne, Frankston, Pakenham, Mernda, Hurstbridge, Belgrave, Craigieburn,… And is V-Line the only way thatCat fans can travel? No cars or buses? No Cat fans in Melbourne already? No Cat fans able to leave in the afternoon? FMD. Your excuses are lame. When you consider the travel, late arrival back to Geelong and unreliable VLine service it's unreasonable to expect families and the elderly to make the trip. Nothing to do with wanting it more. You're just trying to justify your loaded dice.
Aside from that, Richmond encouraged it's supporters to use the Geelong ticket allocation which is a dog act and typifies your club. This has since been fixed but should never have been able to be exploited in the first place.
I sincerely hope we meet again this year because we are better than you across every line, despite your decade of mediocrity resulting in having the best talent in the country available.
Ok so you know what they want then lolNo they dont. They just dont want it in the news cycle while they are preparing for finals.
Do you honestly believe that your supporters were more "finals ready", because that's actually pretty funny. If it’s unfair to the elderly and families in Geelong it’s also unfair to those same people in Cranbourne, Frankston, Pakenham, Mernda, Hurstbridge, Belgrave, Craigieburn,… And is V-Line the only way thatCat fans can travel? If you’re referring to the tweet that suggested using CATS instead of TIGERS in the code then I’m not sure there has been any confirmation that it actually worked. I think you nuffies just took the bait. In reality Geelong had an allocation of tickets just like the Tigers. Geelong members had a timeslot in which to buy those tickets, just like Richmond members. When that timeslot was finished the tickets were opened up to the general public, and finals-ready Tiger fans snapped them up.
Finals starved Tigers more appropriate.Do you honestly believe that your supporters were more "finals ready", because that's actually pretty funny.
You're deflecting. You're playing cards with an ace up the sleeve and still find a way to point the finger.
Yeah i ve started a seperate thread on that already. 17-5 was the solution. The fans rejected it cos the Majority were too stupid to realize that it was the only solution to a fair fixture other than conferences.I'm all for fairness is sport.
But until something is done about the uneven fixture any other fairness argument becomes less relevant.
Two conferences works wellYeah i ve started a seperate thread on that already. 17-5 was the solution. The fans rejected it cos the Majority were too stupid to realize that it was the only solution to a fair fixture other than conferences.
Call it what you want, but when tickets went on sale Tiger fans supporters snapped up the membership allocation and then when they went on sale to the general public Tiger fans snapped up what was left. Tiger fans were ready. You chumps down Cry-o Bay though... all you had come match day was "there were too many of them and they were too loud".Do you honestly believe that your supporters were more "finals ready", because that's actually pretty funny.

Could not agree more with this statement.Yes totally agreed, this is where the AFL need to push back against the TV rights holder.
This happens in Perth heaps, look at our time slots for things like Rugby and Thursday and Friday night games, the start is so early that Transperth can’t put special stadium busses on because they are all being used for peak hour. Not asking for the same as the east coast ie 7:40 but even 6:30 would be better than 5:30
Funny that Richmond insisted on hosting their semi final against the Saints, in 2020, at the much smaller Metricon Stadium- approximately the same distance from the ‘Gabba as the MCG is to KP. Needless to say, Richmond’s was granted. It's true that Geelong are one of the smaller clubs, but I think they get at least as many people to the G as GWS.
Finals starved Tigers more appropriate.
It would have been great to actually see Tigers out number Cat fans at CatPark and boo them down their too.

Yeah bro they would have definitely gotten a full house at the Gabba for Richmond vs St Kilda.Funny that Richmond insisted on hosting their semi final against the Saints, in 2020, at the much smaller Metricon Stadium- approximately the same distance from the ‘Gabba as the MCG is to KP. Needless to say, Richmond’s was granted.

2020 a covid year when crowds were a secondary consideration to actually getting the game away.Funny that Richmond insisted on hosting their semi final against the Saints, in 2020, at the much smaller Metricon Stadium- approximately the same distance from the ‘Gabba as the MCG is to KP. Needless to say, Richmond’s was granted.
I really find this type of logic baffling and you are not on your own with this view, but I can’t wrap my head around it. AFL and by extension Australian sport in general is focused solely on winners. Unlike other countries with major sporting leagues across the world with things like champions league qualification, cups, division and conference championships that all are tangible measures of success; In this country and it’s major sport, there is only one measure, a Premiership. Anything else is deemed a failure by the majority and you need look no further than BigFooty to see this.I'm all for fairness is sport.
But until something is done about the uneven fixture any other fairness argument becomes less relevant.
They actually think they are entitled to a r9 style home final, where social club and reserve seat holders will just get their same seats! It is hilarious.Do you think Geelong fans are smart enough to understand that a final at Geelong v Collingwood or Richmond they’d be massively outnumbered due to finals ticket allocations? Do you think they realise it’s not the majority to the home team?
Nah, 38 pages says they’re all clueless![]()
