great logic. so why not offer a 4th rounder for him then...

Anyone who believes in the PSD threat is stuck in the dark ages. it doesn't happen anymore. All bark no bite.

You've got 2 clubs interested and for someone reason you think that Melbourne is being blackmailed to accept whatever freo have? laughable.
We can't make a PSD threat, zero chance he gets to us there.

We'll have a max price, if its not enough, that's fair enough you can work it out with West Coast from there.

Thats not what I said

Freo have to offer something better than wc. I'd thats their first this year and next then that's what they will get unless they reject it and ge walks to the PSD

It won't happen because eventually they will have to accept it

Does the Jackson trade have to happen before the Grundy trade?
Wouldn’t think so.

There’s no chance Jackson stays with Melbourne, so the salary cap space put aside for Jackson would go to Grundy.

Maybe Collingwood are waiting for the Jackson deal to see if there’s anything coming from that they could ask for as part of the Grundy deal.

But if Collingwood want to clear Grundy to go after Mitchell they wouldn’t want to wait too long.

but you just said freo have to offer something better than wce. so why does jackson go into the preseason draft. he'd just go to wce which is what I said 4 months ago when freo fans didn't want to admit that what I predicted would eventuate. Jackson wouldn't nominate and wce would be big players.

Hence all Freo have to do is offer a little more than wc

By all reports they have. Unless wc want to throw all their draft capital on Jackson while they need multiple players in a rebuild then Melbourne will have tk accept Freos offer

Thats all well and good but west Coast understand the speculative nature of draft picks. There's a big chance that their pick 2, if they keep it, won't be as good as Jackson. Pick 2 could be next Jonathan O' Rourke.

I hope you're right. It makes so much more sense for Jackson to go to West Coast. NN retiring and West Coast need a franchise player to give their supporters some hope. Plus their lovely draft hand would be able to satisfy Melbourne's wishes.

What if Peter Bell and Lamb are working together to make West Coast overpay. Heaven knows, Trevor Nisbett needs a win and if he can be seen to have swooped in and nabbed Jackson from under Freo's nose The West can celebrate that all summer.

Jackson is still purely speculative. Nobody here can definitively say whether or not he'll even be a top line 1st choice ruckman. We're talking about a player who's best position is about as clear as Mark Blicavs'. Are there any doubts over whether he's a good prospect? No. But nobody knows whether or not he'll actually be the A grader some expect when he's finally tasked with being the main man in the ruck.

That's just the nature of the beast when you're stuck behind the best ruckman of the last century. He hasn't been given the chance to show for certain that he's worth the price Melbourne's asking for.

Nobody except for Danster.

true. but its pretty clear he'll be a 200 gamer +. you can't say the same with draft picks. O'Rourke was out of the game in 4 years basically

I'd be much more confident saying Will Ashcroft will be a top end midfielder than Luke Jackson being a top end ruckman right now. Same with Walsh, Daicos etc when they were in their under 18 years. He's a gamble which may pay off with a low floor being a quality 2nd ruck chop out but Lamb is acting as if he's a certainty going off his valuations

true. but that's because you've restricted your thinking. Maybe Jackson could be the afl's first 199cm inside mid. He has those abilities. Ashcroft will only ever be a run of the mill midfielder. Jackson could be anything. Wce or freo are paying for elements of potential but also paying from what they've already seen. which is remarkable for a guy so young.

All a hypothetical

You're delusional

Peter griffin mystery box vibes...

What exactly did Jackson need to do to prove himself over last 3 years. He’s a 199cm ruckman who has shown in the limited opportunities as sole ruck that’s his best spot. I agree he could have stints in the middle as an inside mid. He is a natural ball winner and I thought Goodwin missed a trick not trying him in there with Gawn from time to time. But he’ll be a gun ruck. He’s literally just turned 21!
