Now dont get pissy at me. Have been told it's 8+12 at this stage with our future third and fourth going out with future second and third coming back.

From gws connection.

Dont know who's future second and third but i think likely 10 pick upgrades etc.

So the club aren’t rating the top end of the draft as being much different to that 8-12 range then if we’re considering that.

I don’t think that will be a popular opinion. Hopefully we were holding out for more

And if it was ~10 pick upgrades it would be Ports future 2nd and 3rd we were looking at most likely

I doubt it. Pretty obvious from their sooking in the media that Port have gone rogue trying to get 3 players (2 contracted) without giving anything of real substance. They’re exploring every mechanism they can to avoid trading players they want to keep.
I too like to offer nothing of substance for objects of high value!!!

Do you know if we are looking likely to accept this rubbish?

GWS future second would have some appeal as they could easily win the spoon. Still not a particularly juicy offer though.

If that's the case shouldn't we be gunning for future firsts more than current ones? Sure, there's some risk around future selections but could a deal directly with GWS involving our 2 and 26 for their 12 and a future first (plus other potential movements) be better than two or three first rounders this season? That would value GWS's future first at pick 5 (without extras) but they would have certainty around their pick this season and still have a boatload of firsts to either use or potentially trade back into the first round next year.

If the truth is we were offered pick 27 for him and declined then it’s our issues for being complete idiots for believing he was worth any more than that… 27 was in the first half of round 2 he isn’t worth that so it’s us that have caused it to drag.
Wasn’t it 27 for Rioli & 39.
Eagles knocked it back Port should have held onto 27 and offered it on its own. Deal done

GWS traded 21 and their future 2nd to Brisbane for 15. GWS owns Collingwoods future 2nd via the Bobby Hill trade.

So that's essentially

2 for 8 and 12
Roili 38, 56 for 28 & 46 (Port pick swap, valueing Roili 45)
Or
Roili 38, 56 for 21 & 39 (if GWS swap, valueing Roili 29)

Either way....poor

If it's GWS pick swap that's ok but need more from Port for 2

Only way it goes through if GWS can gain a player from Port

Butters to GWS, pick 15 to us and we sign off on

Meaning we get 8,12, 15 and pick swaps for 2 & Roili

That pretty much squares with the Fox Sports article. They just said "later draft pick swaps" to add to make us happy.

Totally **** deal. Picks in the 40's and 50's are a total crap shoot. Pick upgrades in this region of an already weak draft are nothing more than window dressing to save the people who agreed to this from public shaming.

Feel free to call anyone you come across from our recruiting team a bunch of campaigners from all of us

At the very least you'd want an upgrade on 20 as well, but even then it's kinda sketchy. I've already suggested upgrading 20 to 15. Given that GWS already own 18 and 19, it isn't as much of a downgrade for them as it might appear at first glance.

I’d keep him on a reduced contract with behavioural clauses. Extremely talented X-factor, assuming he gets back to his best again… which is obviously not a guarantee.
I wouldn’t. Can’t remember which exact game it was, but it was a later home game (before is dads death). I said to my mate, have a look at Rioli, he does not want to be out there, he is not interested at all.

His body language told the story of what unfolded months later. He doesn’t want to be at the club and we can’t have a player like that on our list.

Who knows how accurate these points calculators are for determining value. But in that article, where it added up the point to and from all teams involved, it suggested that GWS was the big loser in the deal.

It cant be ports future second as the AFL said they cant trade their future first and second - and their future first has to be in the deal for it to work.

But we don't know what later picks GWS might be getting back from North and Port. When you are trading up to pick 1 to guarantee that you get the player you want, you should pay a premium.

I would rather we got something back. But i would rather he goes aswell. Too old to be part of any eventual renaissance, brings too many problems with him, might have more brain farts and go off the rails again, is only going to get fatter and slower as time goes on and is weak in the same area where we need improvement the most in our forward line, i.e. defensive pressure.

You’re right - I was assuming that was the deal before Ports request got knocked back

GWS and North I see as finishing around the same mark as us so either of those would be more than 10 pick upgrades

might work if it's norths f2 but i can't see that.

I am still yet to see any scenario that has been listed where the eagles deal pick 2 and Rioli and come out massively infront

I have seen a lot of scenarios where we lose, badly

A few where we break even, barely

One or two where we are in front, fractionally

But nothing world beating

And that's entirely the point. Unless Port are willing to come to the table with something truly significant, see you later and we will take pick 2 to the draft

The last offer i can see above is us dealing Pick 2 and Rioli for Pick 8, 12, and 43

NO!

That "offer" barely has us in front on points!!

Make it an unbelievable offer or kindly quit wasting our f*cking time!
It's best not to venture to the port board. Full of uneducated posters. They just don't get it and never will. Let them rot in the mess they have made for themselves hahaha.

Pick 2 and Rioli for pick 8 12 and 40 😂😂 they are living in fairytales again.

Are we getting Bonner out of this??

What about pick swap with GWS direct

They have too many picks anyway

WCE lose: 2, 20, 26, our future 2nd (20), our future 3rd
WCE gain: 3, 12, 18, 19

Then on draft night trade with Hawks so they get Sneezel

3 for 6 and their future 2nd

Then package 20 & 33 to a team for a later first 2023

Essentially

2022. 6, 12, 18, 19 and 26 (5 picks)
2023. 2, 14ish, 20, 23

The issue is that any premium we get in this deal is completely speculative on next years ladder positions. I think that’s a risky deal for us.
I’m not sure why we are getting pulled into a deal we don’t need to necessarily be in and the premium for us is we might get a 10 spot upgrade in the second round next year.

I would like to laugh about it too but i am not convinced that we won't take it.
