Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Excellent choice Ballard. IMO, no chance. Signed until 2025, happy on GC, enjoying holiday with Luko, King, Anderson, Rowell in Europe - all are close. But who knows :)

My guess, Corbett, Burgess, Fiorini, Sexton, Markov are available. People mention Bowes but I don't think so.

Thompson anyone? :p
Corbett might be someone Richmond could look at.

Here's a post that will get some backlash for sounding stupid.

Gold Coast need more shit players. Now what I mean by that is you guys keep getting high draft picks and pick up some of the best players in country. By the time that they finish their second contract you find yourself in cap trouble or someone wants to go home (nearly always to Melbourne) and you get another high end talent, that wants high end money and the process repeats itself.

What you need is 10 players who are VFL standard and when they come in, can be role players and you can pay them minimum chips. Then you may not get in cap trouble so often. I kind of agree with COLA but if you get COLA I see no reason why Port shouldn't get COLA too because we have the same issues getting players. We don't have the same issues retaining players because we don't have a huge bunch of guys on big money.

i completely agree. the revolving door of high draft picks breeds high salary expectations. we've got a good core, just need to trim the list and manage our salary cap a lot better than what we have been doing.

hopefully our retention issues aren't as prevalent now, it would be nice to have a list manager that doesn't re-sign players when they're less than a year into their contracts. make them ****en earn them.

That Atkins deal would have to be the actual worst thing ever.

At least with Martin and McGovern they’re in our best 22 when fit and we’re on front loaded contracts during a period we had ample cap space.

But ghee whizz. Atkins is stealing a living.

In hindsight they were better getting pick 40 something a young 17 year old kid paying him minimum chips and he could have played VFL and if you're lucky he could be a first 22 player. I'm sure when they signed Atkins the expectation was he'd play at least 10 games per season.

This article is from a couple of weeks ago but I missed seeing anything about it.

It basically just says that Gold Coast will now need to match bids for their Queensland academy kids this year (their original concessions package allowed them to pre-list academy products).

No decision at the time of writing regarding prelisting NT draftees, I'm not sure if more has been said since then.

No more info, just this link. By the way, the article says that Suns will have to match academy kids next year. So, I guess this year could still be free pre-selection. My guess, Suns will select Johnston from Darwin.

Essendon in the same boat as the point this post was making.

Rather than over paying a heap of kids who probably aren't worth it, overpay one guy substantially to eat up the salary cap and when he's done the list should be in a better spot to pay these kids better.

This was my main reason for wanting Bowes, not pick 7, eat up a substantial amount of salary cap space.

They had the chance with pick 7 but gave it away

With Rory's retirement, that then opens up another list spot. So they now have 3 senior list spots for the draft
