The Law is wrong

You touch young kids - rape people you should go to jail. Its not that hard

And if judges can't get it right they should be sacked

So you get the same penalty for semi-consensual ( co-erced ) sex with a teenager as you do for horrific aggravated rape of a 3 year old?
If you dumb it down to that level we end up with hanging for just about any crime. ( in the old days they sent the less severe ones to australia ).

I had a mate goto prison for 5 years because he had consensual sex with a 16 year old at the local nightclub.

He had no idea she was 16 and assumed thshe she was of age as she was in an 18+ establishment.

I'm just suggesting that all crimes need to be on a scale where the punishment doesn't motivate criminals to do worse than they are already doing.
Statutory rape is different in my eyes to physical rape. At one time i knew someone who had an underage girlfriend, it sure as hell wasn't him leading her astray and i'd have hated to see him get jail. ( Though i suspect there was someone in her past who should have seen a jail cell ).

There are things we don't know about the Joffa case, and i'm not even going to speculate. I'm less worried about him being out on the street, than seeing that guys like this one will probably get parole before he turns 60.

Used to be part of the Crimes Act (Vic) 1958.

The legislation might have changed.
