Harry and Charlie are Coleman medallist’s who have won us multiple games off their own boot. Jack has kicked 80 goals in 100+ games. He tries his heart out no doubt but ask yourself if someone else like Honey, Owies or Durdin served up those stats would you want him in your team?
Maybe ask yourself how many Harrys and Charlies there are? Of course he's not them, he's Jack. How did Harry go in the ruck? Did Charlie take any defensive marks in the back pocket? Not sure either smothered a kick or even kept the ball in our F50 if they didn't outright win possession. Did either kick that straight? They barely even lead to space, how were our mids supposed to deliver the ball with Lions defenders scattered around?
Please don't discount how well the Lions played either.

Not sure why you expect the impossible, and based on tonights showing, why you would want it.

Some stats:
Carlton +57 possessions (395-338)
Carlton +25 contested (155-130)
Carlton +50 uncontested (253-203)
Carlton +4 centre clearances (14-10)
Tied Inside 50s (47-47)

Cripps 159 metres gained.
Hewett 192 metres gained.
Walsh 221 metres gained.
Kennedy 306 metres gained in 1 quarter.

What this shows is that the game plan is slow, chippy, stodgy. We aren’t good enough with ball in hand and by foot to play that control style. We lack any dare. We lack any speed both by foot and speed of ball movement. Unleash the shackles and give this team a chance or it’s going to be a death by 1000 cuts. Absolute no man’s land.
What this shows is that stats are idioitic.

We didn't lack dare, we lacked accuracy, poise, skill.

Walsh 221 mts gained, something like 20% efficiency to my eye. Worst game the kid has ever had. I love him, but that was tripe.

BamBam almost surpased them all in a qtr.

Where are your stats for hitting targets? Where are your stats for clangers? We would have been pulverised in the first and easily won the latter.

Stats that count?

Goals for/Goals against. Occasionally behinds for/against.

Was watching with lions supporter tonight and we were down by 5 goals, got a good fast break and they had no-one to kick it to. Not one player.

I said to him 'How are we going to win when we have no-one to kick it to going fwd.....I would rather lose by 10 goals try to win than not try and win'

There's no dare, no risk, no willing to take the game in when things get hard (when we aren't playing witches hats - it's why i took nothing from last week, zero)

Carlton list management didn't do much over the summer, they must have rated the list a bit better than what it is [emoji848]

Probably giving a few guys enough time to show if they could step up and improve.

The answer is no, most just won't get any better or still aren't ready.

We improved our wings, but still lack pace and kicking skills, and decent half forwards or small forwards.

We aren't at a point where you'd dismantle the list, but it does need more tinkering. I also don't want to go back to the bloody green shoots era ever again, where winning doesn't matter and the most inane positive sign is praised like the Bolton era.

We need to grit it out, if that means we end up 12th for 6 years, so be it. Try to win every week, try to improve the list year on year, but don't blow it up to give ourselves an out or excuse for losing.

I hate to say it but we have to play like the pies if we loose then lets be fun to watch. Not so frigging boring
The pies can play like they do because they are so good in there back 6 defensive system -- that back 6 been playing together a long time -- pies were always good defensively McRae just let them run knowing there DNA is defence which has been ground into them over years -- plus nick daicos helped

Lewis Young is the worst exponent of the spoil for a key defender I have ever seen. He struggles to get any distance on his spoils, and the majority go straight in front into the corridor. I counted at least 5 occassions that his spoils went directly to the opposition.

I'm a massive Newman fan, but he played with arrogance today. Paid no respect to Cameron all game, standing off him at centre stoppages, trying to play 3rd man up, handing Cameron off to other players. Cameron was unbelievable - extremely impressive live.

Should be the third tall forward

4 goal loss against a team in the top 4? not so bad. but the manner of the loss is another thing altogether. some shocking skills on display tonight. brisbane could have really put us away but didn't, we could have made the game closer but didn't.
cripps has had his shocker for the year. our small forwards are hitting the scoreboard but don't get hold of it a whole lot otherwise. is that inexperience? at least they're making the most of limited chances i guess.
for the amount of ball we had it didn't land in the hands of our coleman medallists enough.

I don't mind going slow. The issue is that there aren't enough options being presented. It's like the players know it's going to be chipped around so no one presents (regularly). Player with the ball has no option but to go sideways because everyone else is flat footed.

Need more movement ahead of the ball.

We also need to work on decision-making as a priority because we consistently make some really dumb choices.

Far out, one of our biggest issues is our delivery to our forward line, which is what's stopping it reaching its full potential, and you want to trade a building block away?
He is soft. And He shows it repeatedly. How many times have we seen Harry throw his arms up when He loses possession? Too many is the answer. And He lacks even the confidence to kick straight - even when at no particular angle.

As I said that is the fact which upset me. We are in a conundrum with Cripps, if he isn't dominating he is a liability. I am not sure we will ever be that good a side with the midfield structured as it is having to accomodate for Cripps.

Honestly I wouldn't be upset if we dropped him. Complete c grader at the moment. Kennedy played with more intensity in a quarter than Cripps did in 4.

Offers nothing offensively and defensively. Figjam of a captain and always goes to water before we lose a coach.

We made 75 turnovers to Brisbane’s 79. Ours were very very costly. We lack dare at key periods of the game and they go into their shells. If that’s due to a lack of confidence after making an error or not I’m not sure.

Statistics don’t always tell the full story I’ll give you that. But this has become a trend of our midfielders getting high possesions but lacking any hurt factor. These stats paint a bit of a picture when it’s a pattern.

If you’re ok with the game plan then there’s no point having further discussion and let’s agree to disagree.
