Find a North fan that backed Carey after the affair the way Essendon fans fall over themselves trying to prove Hird’s innocence, they literally don’t exist.

Carey was rightly disowned by North people for years after he f**ked up. It took over 15 years, until our 150th year celebrations in 2018 until he returned to the club at an official function. That was for an affair, which in comparison to an experimental pharmaceutical program is not on the map.

Yet, here they are again, Essendon fans protesting Hird’s innocence and out to get their pound of flesh on North, who they have no rivalry with, just ask them.

Hmmn I find this disingenuous. Lots of folk have affairs. Had Carey been sprung with the next door neighbour, it would have been different. It was like there is some sort of higher duty to not have a fling with the Skipper’s wife. Given the Skip was deeply affected it was untenable for them to play together.

Carey had more serious problems, inc the 1996 charges and giving evidence on behalf of Jason Moran. Who knows what other incidents there were before the 2002 affair.

Q. Why was Carey not disowned by the Club and their fans earlier?

He hasn't had the opportunity to tell his side of the story.

He has, he has chosen not to until he gets to see all the statements , medical records , emails etc of the accusers. From a guy who says he is completely innocent this is odd.

He could have spoken to the allegations directly at anytime , lawyers by his side and fully briefed. He could have spoke about the highlighted meetings directly and given his account of what occurred on those days from his perspective And offer context from his point of view.
If he is completely innocent he should have been busting to get his side of the story to the investigators.
He has let the fire smoulder and here we are today, fire appliances everywhere . Saying I am not guilty of any of the accusations does not cut it.

As a bystander with no skin in the game it makes me wonder that the basic story told by the accusers happened.
