Victoria should NEVER have pitched for games in regional Victoria. It was never going to be cost effective, and given the state of the economy in early 2022 we should never have pitched for the Games at all.

But to label them as a joke event is disingenuous. Tell Raelene Boyle, Kerry’s McCann and Cathy Freeman theCommonwealth Games is a joke event. They served their medal apprenticeships at Commonwealth Games. At the last Games 72 countries competed, 4500 athletes. 10,000 athletes compete in the Olympics

Dan claims CGA begged Australia to host the 2026 games at the last minute. That turns out to be absolute crap. A Victorian government delegation secretly met with the head of the Commonwealth Games in London in late 2021 and pitched to host the games in regional Victoria. The delegation was told to go through the correct channel, CGA, which the government later did.

So the first lie has been exposed.

I am pissed that Andrews bid for it in the first place. I am pissed that there will be break costs.
