As we are now getting into the season and we are starting to get a bit more serious with discussion, seems a suitable time to post the following as it's repeatedly shown itself to be a value reference tool in trade & draft discussion

And as per normal, thanks to Lore for putting this together - always a fantastic reference tool



And yes this post is now stickied - makes it easy to keep track of (can easily reverse this though if needed)

I think that's likely but only because we won't treat Sav badly. I don't see a material difference in 37 and letting him go to the draft for nothing. There's just nothing at that pick. Why bother

True, not much right now. But they could front load the space on other contracts ave chase a player next year

Regarding Parfitt, though I wasn't aware of it prior to these posts, but could see Port as a genuine option for him if he does want to make the move - and it makes more sense than a comment I read earlier this year that we should deal with WCE as Parfitt may want to return home to WA...

The other factor in all that also is Narkle who's already at Port, as the 3 guys were previously housemates during their time in the Hoops

I don’t really see it. If parfitt can’t get a go in our current midfield, how is he going to get a game at Port?

Just remember Max Gawn's body, in particular his knees gave out on him twice... 2010 and 2012 seasons were scrubbed, which affected 2011 and 2013.
Same was most likely said about him.

Mitch Georgiades, who i reckon Wells knows all too well from his draft year.
Yes he's not a free agent but a OOC.
Who could walk straight into the Eagles nest if he wanted to. Great leverage for him & us if wanted a Bellarine change i reckon.
Perfect swap for Sav if indeed he sees himself as a Port player next year.

Sav in the draft not getting taken till p37 is like marvel alternate universe thing.... especially when its been said this draft falls away in the second round.

Makes me wonder if we would just be better if every OOC player was a FA. Sav is a FA ..he walks for zero to who ever. No compensation. As long as the player is paid market value ..then the sal cap will keep the comp even. We then look at other out of contract players. Go get Dow or Georgiades or whoever.

I liked getting a massive haul of loot for Tim Kelly though

He won't... It's Geelong. So Melbourne isn't relevant at all as you say.

Sav will go to the club he chooses... not the one with best pick... 99% of players when ask to be traded will go to the club they desire to, and 90% of the time a deal gets done... And that's any player

Not that surprising, at least for this year - the club has already got on the front foot regarding this and said they aren't chasing Smith

To make it known publically you aren't after a certain player, if there's then talks between the club & that player in that same year, then you just look pretty shitty

Well he's not a bad target and the mail in Adelaide is that he wants to go to a Melbourne club

Agreed... Us risking a nothing pic to get a usable pick is well worth it.

If other clubs with better picks and early positions in the PSD are interested in Sav we best not bend over and hand him over to Port for basically nothing.

Port wants him, rates him and probably need him... We can make them pay up a usable asset or they risk not getting their target (they have more to lose than us imo).

People forget that when we commit to getting a player we just get the trade done... It's on Port to make it work and we really shouldn't be scared of playing hardball.... There's almost nothing to lose and certainly something to gain.

Sure its was a win... but we w=used most of it for Cameron. ... and Cameron would have been free.

In my world ..after being passed in multiple drafts he would have been a free agent and not in the draft in the first place.

Stevens needs to put concrete in his boots at draft camp.

It depends on what he wants. If he had already showed his real speed to a club he wants to go to ...it almost sounds like draft diddling...which never ever happens


Maybe we should have system where they pay each drafted played by the pick tehy are taken as an incentive to get drafted as early as possible.

It's not as crazy as it seems, it's basically just "We'll trade you our surplus for your surplus"

Duursma has been overrated a tad because he's always linked in the trio of Rozee, Butters & Himself, when he's really not in the same class as the aforementioned two.

However, he's still a quality player when at his best, and could make a really good wing tandem with Holmes for the next 5-10 years.

I really like Lord, and think he's got real talent, the only issue is his kicking. If he can sort that out then he's a quality key forward prospect.

If he can't, there's always the option of reinventing him as a key defender. His marking ability is a real selling point.

Looking at the review in his u18 year... he sounds like he should be playing as a mid...could it be Duusma best position has never been available to him? Bruhn ish..

The Lord defender thing is sonething I thought about the other day. Why doesnt Port try him down there.

Dont listen to the poor media. Theres more quality in this draft than they will tell you. The 30s will be fine.

Georgiades needs to go somewhere he is guaranteed to be best 22 or he might be out of the league in the 3 years. He wont risk going to a top 4 team (unless hes stupid which is possible)
