Strategy Draft assistance 2023 [Twomey: NMFC get #19 in 2023, x2 end of 1st rd picks in 2024, and x2 extra rookie list spots in 2024; no Sanders/#11]

It's so ****ing simple, just compare what we got, with what we would've got under the old system.

List the clubs that recieved first round draft picks.

What would Melbourne, or Carlton done vs GC... what did North do, they won the match.

Doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.

Just putting this out there that MAYBE the media and Clubs via the AFL are playing 5th dimensional chess with us here on Bigfooty, remember when we thought we were being shafted via no pick 11 and no access to Sanders and offered some shit second round picks as a consolation prize AND NOW we are lapping it up like kittens on crack milk because the media and clubs are salty as all hell.

WE ARE BEING PLAYED FOR FOOLS WHERE IS OUR ACCESS TO SANDERS AND OUR PICK 11 YOU ****ERS 🤪

Nat Edwards on the AFL Daily podcast today saying there's "no rhyme or reason to how the compensation works". She referenced Hawthorn getting pick 19 for Buddy Franklin. Well Nat, I think maybe you just don't understand the "rhyme or reason". A team on the bottom of the ladder is going to be more affected by losing a high $ value player than the team that wins the GF the year before. Hence the high compensation via a pick. Her example of Buddy is literally the rhyme and the reason. Hawthorn won flags straight after Buddy left so losing him didn't impact them hardly at all.

Just once what I'd love to hear from someone running this angle is what compensation they think Buddy should have generated. Same with Frawley, same with McKay. Just tell us how you think the system should work

This has occurred to me too......

It's hardly new or surprising behaviour from Eddie Munster Scott. Every time something goes mildly against him or his team his toys wind up on the floor.
Exactly, he'd have been reading through our assistance announcement and thinking, "There must be some kind of mistake here, I don't see how this benefits Geelong at all..."

Is she fukcing serious? I’ve even heard Hawthorn supporters say that one kinda balances it out with how they got buddy and roughhead. Gee-whiz

After what was probably months of conditioning myself that at best we'd get matching rights for Sanders, I think this was perhaps a slightly better outcome.

Definitely not worthy of the outrage given that at the end of the day the lowest of these picks will end up in the mid 20s, but it's definitely something to be happy with. Now it's just lining up the right trades to make use of them.

You know Carlton and Sydney will be very keen on receiving those 2024 picks for Fisher and Stephens respectively.

Did not Buddy generate the same compensation (ie.Band 1 compo after their 1st pick)?

The Hawks won the premiership that year so their pick would have been 18 right?

You know they won't be getting them.

I think depending on what else is available, I don't think downgrades are too unlikely.

Carlton will be aiming for top four next year as an example, so in theory we'd move down from 19 to 32ish next year, but would at least not have to fear the AFL taking that pick off us should we improve onfield.

It's not the most exciting option, but I can see it happening if there's nothing better available.

That’s correct.

And Frawley generated Pick 3 after leaving the team that finished second last.

COMPENSATION for losing an integral player on a large contract.

Afls next media announcement after the G/F

"Starting from next season the Afl has decided to remove the assistance package to clubs in need of support"
"All current packages will remain" :laughv1::laughv1::laughv1:

Let the uproar begin..
Then we can add it to the 'rules changed because of North Melbourne' thread

Morning/ afternoon all what a glorious day judging by the melts all over social media land. Gosh one would have thought by their reactions that little ole North must have set fire to and ransacked the entire state of Victoria….absolutely splendid to witness all of this.
However l won’t and have not bothered to listen to Damos and Nats podcasts…Since when has Nat Edwards become this oracle and fountain of wisdom in regards to trading. Clearly she has very little idea as pointed out above so eloquently by r00boy96. What utter nonsense…ld get more sense from a padlock on a gate. I laugh at these posters including her who cue the outrage and then deny that their club has ever had any assistance…. but using Franklin as her reason….oh dear…..step away from the microphone and maybe think next time before offering an opinion….

If you want the truth to anything followed the money trail and the AFL does not do anything unless it controls and knows the outcome.

The AFL knows exactly where these three end of round one draft picks are going and to which club and for what value whether it be player or pick swaps.

All that is a done deal.

Scott has cracked the s**** because a deal that Geelong we're working on most likely with Gold Coast for pick 4 has been ambushed and scuppered.

That's why Scott is salty.

100% fact

I'm bemused about the "continual" handouts. Aside from Logue & Tucker last year, what other handouts have we ever got?

And Clarkson did nothing to get a PP (Roughead) in 2004. In those days it was black and white - win less than 6 games and you got a pick BEFORE the first round. As a result Richmond, Dogs and Hawthorn all got the first 3 picks and then got picks 4-6. Clarko's contribution to this? Nothing. He didn't coach Hawthorn in 2004.

Nat Edwards is usually OK in a bland sort of way. But that was far from her best effort. She had no idea what she was talking about and just went on a rant. Barrett - well he's just a bellend.

It's manufactured content. She's just the mouthpiece.
