Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Glad someone has come out and said it. Even if it was Port.

PORT Adelaide head of football Chris Davies has called for a review of the AFL's father-son system, suggesting Victorian clubs have an unfair advantage.

Davies told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio the Power "can't believe" a father's games threshold is 200 games in the SANFL compared to 100 for a Victorian club in order for their son to qualify as a father-son.

"The AFL have got some decisions to make with regard to what they want the draft to actually look like, whether it be issues about the northern academies, father-son situation," he said.

To us, we still can't believe it's 100 games in the VFL and 200 games in the SANFL.

"I think it should (change). The AFL have got some real decisions to make right now.

"This year and the next few are going to be highly compromised.

Never realised that, is it the same re WAFL?

Poor lil just norf. It's confirmed north lost their pick 4.

Good luck getting pick 7 you twats.

North pick 19 is now pick 20. Horrible nobody going to swallow that 20

How bent is that!

I think part of the rationale is West Coast / Freo get potentially 4 WAFL clubs to harvest father/sons from in addition to their own former players, as opposed to the 1 club that Victorian clubs get (their own former players)

So from that perspective I think it's fair

They will change it when WCE have a father son who is a top prospect. It will be unacceptable only then.

Hawkins is a strange one. 35 years old and his not happy with Geelongs offer.

Should just retire. I don't think I've heard a player at his age so desperate to play another year he would actually go to another club. His at the age that any contract is a good one. I don't get it from his perspective. Does he know how old he is.

I knew I was going to be pissed off but didn’t think my blood would boil this much over Pick 1 of the SECOND ROUND.

My rough calculations is we’re going to get Pick 26 odd if things stand currently.
This is why we should be packaging it up and trying to move up to GC pick 10.

Pieman today

“We’ve had a few (calls on Pick 1), not a lot, to be honest. Maybe in the coming days when clubs are clearer on what selections they have, there’s a few things to lock in, I expect that to increase,” he said.

“But not a lot so far.

“If we had a decision today, I‘d say we’re probably leaning towards keeping the pick and using it at the draft.”

Acceptable offers for the pick have been speculated on and workshopped by clubs and the AFL world ad nauseam, but O’Brien refused to weigh in on what could get a deal done.

“We haven‘t actually put a price on it because we feel like if we do that, the perception is we have an appetite to trade it. If we put a price on it, people will kind of warp towards that price,” he said.

“We‘ll just wait and see what happens and if someone gives us something that makes us turn our head, we’ll consider it then.”

Exactly. It isn't a damn fire sale, you want it you better offer something unbelievable but we aren't chasing you.

Going on Adelaide getting the Doedee compo, clubs are negligent to sign players on long term deals that may extend past their "current" window.

Just keep signing 2 year contracts for older players and load up on 1st rounders for good to average players when they are shipped out the door, to fast track your rebuild.

The McGovern 'for life' style contracts are negligent in light of the current system.
