Seen Hawkins at cotton head office in Geelong tonight coming out of the car park

So, we have WAP and Powell needing to have big year, Zuhaar out of contract in a position we have cover in, and who knows what happens with Thomas. We have draft assets if needed next year.

Thus

Trade F1 and 3 for Reid and eagles second this year (21).

Trade 15 and 18 to the cats for 8.

Trade 19 and 21 to GWS for 7 and Haynes.

Reid
Mckercher
O’Sullivan
Caddy/Murphy/Sanders
Zurhaar would of kicked 60 goals with all the easy misses. Zurhaar plays CHF next year. Him and his best mate will carve it up in 2024

I don't get why so many of us are eager to trade away #2 to get hold of #1. We are in the driver's seat and when WCE eventually comes begging we should tell them that we're extremely happy with the picks we have, but that we're prepared to listen to what they have in mind. Then Brady needs to tell them that before they go any further, #2 is off the table, but that we're prepared to have #3 involved in a trade. If that isn't acceptable to WCE, we just walk away. We need #2 to secure the player we currently rate the best available target, which hopefully is McKercher. WCE will be desperate to split #1 and we need to make it happen on our terms.

You’re never in the drivers seat when you want what they want more than they want what you want.

I’ve got no issue though offering 3 over 2 to secure McKercher though.

I'm still getting my head around the fact that if trade week had finished tonight, we have 5, yes 5 picks in the top 18, which in a "normal" draft being just 18 picks, we would have just 1 pick.

Think about that everyone.

My late brother used to say that the day of the National Draft, should be a Public Holiday. Imagine that, a Public Holiday and 5 Picks in the First Round.

Looking forward to seeing what Barlow can do with Powell and Wil Phil.

Good work…..not for me though, McKercher will be best player of this draft IMO.
Love Shoenmaker and O‘Sull though.
Hmm got to admit i watched his highlights in the Allies V WA game and couldnt help but notice how clean Sanders (yeah in McKercher's highlights) was compared to him. Sanders looks the playmaker, Kerch more an erratic workhorse with massive tank. I worry how many times he turned it over.

You’ve got the circumstance backwards - it isn’t the Eagles who want the trade despite what old mate McClure will have you believe.
It’s up to the buying club- IE North, to stump up.

As supporters we really would rather the club just take Reid. The hashtag JTR is firmly a thing on our board.

Sadly I feel a trade will happen that doesn’t really appeal to either club fan bases. Firmly in the middle zone

It’ll involve 2 though, of that I’m confident

I just wanted to wish our West Coast friends all the very best rebuilding a list after the retirements of Hurn, Shuey and Nic Nat, with McGovern and Darling rising 32, armed with this year's draft picks of 1 and 22.

Hope it goes well.
To rub salt in the wound, Hawthorn and Freo look to have convinced Brockman to go to Freo…

Geelong are making a bold play for Ollie Lord in the Esava Ratugolea trade, after knocking back Port's offer of pick 24, 9News Adelaide's Josh Money reports.

Geelong want to buy. In terms of picks they have #8 which they can't afford to spend because if they lose that all they have is #86.

So Geelong have to sell players. But all they have is Esava and they don't want to sell that cheaply.

So Geelong can't buy and they're not willing to sell. Puts them in a bind doesn't it?

Cats should take #24 in a heartbeat and forget Lord. #24 for a bloke who's played 75 games in 6 years. 5 out of 14 finals in that time. With no other picks between #8-86? That's a good deal.

Nice to win a flag, play finals every year. They've been awesome. But it sucks to have an ageing list, no draft capital, and no Dangerfields, Abletts or Camerons wanting to walk in the door.

Their time has come.

I think that WC want the best value for pick 1 and that the offers will be more value than just picking at 1.

Can someone succinctly put down how many primary list + Rookie list spots we currently have available (including those currently held by players awaiting a contract)? I’ve lost track.

Also, a list of players currently awaiting a contract in the same post would be helpful.
Senior List spots:
Out: ziebell cunnington Goldstein hall mckay perez young spicer (8)
Uncontracted: bonar Mahoney (2)

Ins: George (LTI return) Fisher Stephens (3)

Rookies:
Out: Edwards Howe (2)
Uncontracted: Turner

The question is what list will Biggy and Pink end up on though.

personally I think that's a bargain but that's just my objective unbiased opinion
Not a chance of that happening. We know only to well how painful and slow a rebuild is with 1.5 quality picks. (1 finishing low and a low seconder rounder being the .5)
Its not even enough to cover the older guys heading out the door.
Pretty silly knocking back the 4 solid picks where you guys are in the rebuild. Wouldve been a super fast track. 2 and 18 is best id be offering now or we just take the motherload to the draft.

Dawson and Pink will fight it out. Dawson got a gig on the list, pink will challenge for a spot. Past listed player with a point to prove?

They need to come to the Bank of North Melbourne and hand in their pick#8 so we cant give them #17 and #18. That way they then will have #17, #18, #24 (PA)plus #86 as a starting point to use ..
