I know Pickett is phenomenal, arguably top 2 small forwards in the comp with Cameron. We ****ed that up, Powell still has time to turn as Picket only kills s**t teams and is loose with his head knocks n s**t. Picket went missing in finals. Thats not what you want from a pick 8

Pick 8, which is one we traded, ended up being Serong who is miles ahead of Powell. Wish we had him!

Melbourne traded back to Pick 10 with Freo to get Pickett and then also picked up Trent Rivers with the 2nd rounder they got for moving back 2 spots.

They clearly want the contract gone, but on the other hand, there has been nothing to suggest their salary cap this off-season is in such a bad way that they'd be willing to forego a top 10 pick to get it off the books.

I wouldn't be that surprised if Haynes joins NM, but I'd be gobsmacked if he came with pick 7.

They could just pay 700k like Tom Morris suggested they were happy to, and we could get him for 500k.

That'd still be a win-win.

The cap is set to rise around 15% in 2024, 10% backpay on 2023 contracts due to new CBA. Whether you are Cadman or Callan Ward, their managers will be looking at contract extensions to cater for the new increase especially the 2024 & 2025 contracts - so suddenly, that 1.3 or 1.4 starts to bulge a bit in their 2024 bucket.
Enter North, we'll take care of that bulge for Haynes and maybe a F2 or 3 for #7, no afterpay we'll pay in cash

Take #3 and #7 to WCE for #1 & agreement not to take WA top 10 players...if they don't like it, good luck.

First glance at that was wtf, but Carlton rated fisher as a second, and we get another pick in the top 20. Therefore, it is a fairly even trade. Ever slight overs, but that’s fine.

I know I'm a few hours late but who cares. We have five shots at the first round of the draft. Most of its late but who gives a ****., The sort of players we need will be available and we will have backed our new development squad to get the most out of them.

I wonder where McClure is getting his info from for him to double down. I wonder who he is managed by

McClure was forced to apologise at the time. All other news outlets are accepting that he’s happy to go. McClure has just backed himself into a corner. If the trade does happen he can (unjustly) say told ya so, if he doesn’t he’ll look like a true clown.

When you desperately want to split #1 to give yourself more exposure to the top end of the draft and we are sitting on the best trade hand in living memory that we don't need to shake up, then we have the upper hand. North is likely to explore a trade for #1, but only if the terms are favourable for us. When you currently have 5 top 18 picks, which might even be improved with another top 10 pick, then you don't have to burn too much draft capital to secure a player who may or may not be the best player in the draft because we're already sitting on a goldmine. Easy for North to walk if we don't get the terms we want, not so much for WCE. You could look at it as WCE being the buyer of multiple 1st round picks. I actually hope we don't trade for Reid.

We can go around in circles here. We could drop down, but it’s going to take more than is considered for. Our list boss has been consistent on his messaging. Even now the media sans McClure is accepting that a) Reid is happy enough to come across and b) we aren’t taking Curtin with 1.

What happens in three years, who knows? Maybe he will want to go home in three. No one knows that, not even the great lad himself.

North have a strong hand and if they wanted to they could stump up. It’ll cost more than you North fans want and less than us Eagles fans want.

Our fans really like Reid. Our board wants an unfair super trade akin to Adelaide’s offer for the JHF pick.
