Let's be real, under Brad Scott how many truly elite runners did we develop? Sam Gibson came in ready made with a tank he built himself before getting drafted
100%
We had a pretty strong team though and that was due to Dan Mehan before getting drafted to the NBA for SC at Brooklyn.

You can blame Jona for that. A ****ign dietitian as the head of sport sci

Yes - it potentially leaves the hamstrings in a weaker position/ stretched position. But because he is so young. He hasn’t been at the gym smashing leg extension and front squats.

It is largely genetic with him.

What the club should do is look at his
  • running mechanics.
  • identify if he is apply more force through one side than the other.
  • strength test on a force platform.
  • get a proper strengthening routine going working on his weaknesses.
  • and finally, I’d actually get a sprint coach to work on those <50 meter running drill
How did you get a hold of Taylor Garner's off-season program?

Solid plan. Should have let Clarko and the gang know last season.
I can't imagine he hasn't done something similar in the past. And look where we are now
While you’re on a roll Dr Garibaldi82, I have this rash on my inner thighs and have tried multiple creams to stop the chafing.

Any recommendations?..

Because I did my placement at North Melbourne. A’rocca signed off on my first placement hours.
I’m also an exercise physiologist- I just don’t announce myself as a resident EP.

Oh, and I was also classmates with the strength and conditioning coach who got axed as soon as noble left. He also had something to do with Taylor Garners off-season program 😉

If you watched selected highlights he’s elite. If you watched every disposal in one or two games from him (like I have), you start having doubts. Only the guys that have watched hours and hours of Mckercher would know for sure.

I’ve watched every game McKercher has played, he’s a very good kick, I wouldn’t say he’s elite yet but he’s very good and his footballing IQ is awesome as well.

It’s part of what makes him unique, he’s not just your average accumulator like say Parish, he’s damaging with ball in hand, can hit the scoreboard and unlike a lot of his types of midfielders, he’s fast as well, especially his first few steps.

If you have 2 and 3 on draft night, it’s a no brainer to pick McKercher.

I haven't diagnosed it. No one possibly could.
All you can go on is previous history and the demands of the given activity/ sport.
He's had multiple hamstring tears. They will heal but they will always be somewhat compromised. He may very well go years without doing another one. But evidence suggests that he probably will. It's always a bit of a guessing game

Sorry for my ignorance but hasn’t he only strained the same hammy multiple times? A 3 week hammy is a strain isn’t it? And 6 weeks plus a tear?

All while being relatively deconditioned.

I have long since pondered the days of brad Scott’s when he just wouldn’t rest guys for maintenance purposes. And then we are gassed come September.

Is there any benefit in him having a pre planned 3 weeks on, 1 week off for the next 2 years?

I know plenty of EP' that promote "bullshit activation exercises". And if Arocca signed you off you're probably due for some updated professional development

Or do s**t runners turn into elite runners.
That is the biggest difference and strength of course. Plenty of vison of Sanders bursting from packs, even if just enough to get a clean disposal away. While he's probably short of the elite in speed he's far from slow as either. Has plenty of evasive tricks in the bag, is fast of mind and one of the biggest speed increases being a one touch player. But id go as far to say his other footy traits are elite.
We'll regret it if we dont take him imo.

The last thing I was expecting this evening was 2 EPs battling it out on Wardlaw's hammys

I remember Paul Roos being pulled apart on this board for suggesting we drafted two 'not so strong runners' days after we did.

Yep and also looking ahead to next draft

If people are impressed by these mids (not including Harley) they imo don’t come close to Finn O’Sullivan, jagga smith and Josh smillie in next years draft

But watto I’d have miles ahead of next years small forwards

Probably likewise Curtin over kpds
I dont see us finishing bottom 4 next year.

You forgot Sid Draper and one (or both) the Campo twins..Zak Johnson & Sam Lalor, powerful mid...really impressed with that Moraes kid.

A LOT of quality mids in 2024 draft!!

Agreed I’d have most of the top 5 mids next year ahead of any mid in this draft bar reid

Which is why I want watto and Curtin

We can get elite mids next year if our current mids aren’t up to it

1 - Reid
2 - McKercher
17 - Schoenmaker
18 - Green
57 - Mannagh

And then we shut shop and go home..

I know it’s a touchy subject on this board lol, I don’t want to overstep, but you guys need to remember we rejected pick 4, a future 1st (almost certainly a top 5 pick) and Brockman for pick 1. So we wouldn’t accept 3 and 15 (I’m assuming that is your offer for Reid in your post).

STFU! We’re talking about Wardlaws hamstrings!

Or you know the player you want will go top 4 hence rejected it
As pick 5 May as well be pick 10
That range seems fairly even

So far we’ve yet to offer any of our top 3 picks

I think we will end up offering one to get the deal done with a teens pick
