Yep. The AFL’s compensation to you, the broken bidding system and the northern academy have properly screwed the draft’s integrity this season.

Objectively a club finishing last with their worst ever season shouldn’t be getting pick 30 with their second pick.

This only further enhances my belief. A deal for 1 is there to be had. It’ll involve pick 2. That’s irrefutable.

Pick 3 and 18 is as bad as the joke of a first offer that one of your lesser intelligent posters tried to insist was fair.

No, Hawthorn’s offer was fair. If we were that desperate we would’ve taken that. Pick 3 or pick 6. Same same really for us. It doesn’t net McKercher.

Lycett won the flag with WC in 2018, was then traded to Port.

Stuart Anderson similar after ‘96 GF if memory serves …. then went on to play a grand total of nine games for Freo.

32 on the senior list And 5 rookie list atm contracted for next year
5 first rounders
2 senior list out of contract 1 rookie out of contract

Can have 37-7 rookies or 38 senior list and 6 rookies
(36-8 an option but would mean only take 4 picks if bundled up higher in the ND)

Think turner stays on the rookie list, gives that ready made experience in a position of need

So if we take the 5 first rounders we go 37-7 and have 1 free rookie spot

Or if we bundle picks up and only take 4 nd picks then we have 36 senior list and can have 8 rookies
Or have space to bring in a dfa or 2 or keep the uncontracted senior listed blokes and go 38-6

Overall I think we safely have room to bring in 1 dfa (ready made ruck)

Then just take our first round picks in the draft either 4 or 5

And that should be all get in on night 1 of draft and complete the list

From here I’d go 15 and 18 for 8

2: watto
3: Curtin
8: Caddy
17: Philactides

(Small forward, key back and forward and running hbf)

And then pick up a dfa (ruck)
And keep turner on the rookie list

And then take another dfa or take pick 57 in the draft

That fills the remainder 7 list spots across both senior and rookie list (4ND, retain KT rookie and 1-2dfa or use pick 57)

Bell’s view on player wages and sometimes just a few players get turned
Think though, they have some nice pieces there, plenty of cap room

We finished with 5 top 18 picks, Fisher and Stephens.

I just think they will give it another crack this year before totally giving up.

The CCJ trade is looking like a massive bust, but by some miracle he might come good? Stranger things have happened.

Robbie Tarrant looked like a bust for a fair while. Patience is a virtue especially if someone has a 5 year deal.

For mine I wouldn't be happy to see the Roos trade any of our existing, unless it's to get up to the Cats pick at 8.

This is our one and only opportunity to fix all list needs in one draft, not need to balls that up just to get Reid.

We come into this trading period / draft needing speed and key position. Some of this has been solved through Fisher / Stephens and Pink / Biggie but particularly with the key position types those are probably patch work at best.

We've got a s**t load of picks, we don't need to use them all on kids in the draft. We could have used a couple to bring in somewhat experienced players to address holes in our list.

Sure, I understand the point you're making; what I see is a pretty clear three-fold strategy; trade for experienced outside run (Fisher has played 100+ games and Stephens 40 odd, including a grand final); pro-scout to provide options behind McKay (Pink and Nuyuon) and; trade as high up into the top 20 as possible.

Only proof will be in the results ahead

I just wonder if the noises around him want the marketing dream to undo some of the damage from JHF gate.
