I think we've had worse trade periods before, let alone across the competition history.
And anyways, you never know whether it was successful or not until way later, never mind the "scorecards".

In all seriousness, Eagles had arguably the worse season of all time.
They’ve brought in Brockman for 2 picks when they could’ve had him for pretty much nothing.
They’re just sitting on pick 1 like that solves all their problems.
They haven’t done anywhere near enough for mine for the position they’re in.
Their ‘trade’ period will be defined by the draft, but their trade period has been non existent.

Err, maybe because they have said they were going into full rebuild mode, which means they have a reason to value picks and so traded in nothing. Pretty standard approach.
Unlike another club that said it is aiming to win a flag by 2025, finished 14th, lost players, and also traded in nothing.

They could have easily turned that #1 into at least 2 top 5 picks and another first rounder this year or next and are banking on Reid to be the next Judd. It's silly. It's not basketball where you can build a team around 1 player. You have 17 others on the field.
I'm not sure the two top 5's is correct. They could certainly get 1 top 5 and some other good stuff but as CapitalA says

Yeah look I agree they should have, but if all they actually got offered was that potato Norf collection of shit picks for #1 then they probably made the right call.
They really either needed number #2 back, or number #3 with confidence Norf weren't taking Curtin. If they didn't get offered that then they made the right call.
I don’t think in their shoes I’d be taking Curtin over McKercher tbh
