All we have to do is tell GC suns were bidding in Read and Rogers at 9 and W.Graham at 31 if you dont give us a 3 pick upgrade from 35 to 32 or 4 pick upgrade from 31 to 27

If we give up 60 before draft night

Not sure i have the numbers right i cbf atm

Unsure list spots for suns aswell

I assume they have alot losing Burgess Hollands, Chol ect Sharp maybe a delist aswell

Great, so all we have to do is checks notes commit extortion, and we can get better picks! That's a good bit of business, that.

Not necessarily true, but it can certainly be an easy position to play at the top level compared to in the forward 6

Weve seen Sheezel and Naicos take it up easily and be dominant year 1 but both were top 3 players in their pool. Wanganeen transitioned from a similar position of wing to HBF, but thats fairly common. Hayden Young id rate as one of the best half backs in the game played there. S.Hurn one of the best of the always played back of centre, Brodie Smith similar. Tom Stewart aswell from memory

I wouldnt stretch too much for a HBF

If we get Windsor at 9 then dont stretch at all later for another HBF/Flanker

If a Hardeman, A.Roberts are there at 31 then take them

Id still consider Philactides at 35 if we havnt landed one. Oskar Ryan i quite liked when i watched

I wouldnt be looking to think Tholstrup/C.Edwards/Gothard for example succeeds as a HBF. Wilson has greater chance of succeding there no doubt Freijah similar but not at that level would be a 35 guy if we have none

Some people like Hastie more than myself. Jiath i havnt seen

Lual at 35 could be considered

G.Stevens at 31 can play HBF and onball which i see as his primary position

I really liked W.Grahm id chuck a bid at 31 on him if GC dont meet our demands

Because he’s a harde e man and you’re sick of soft play?

hes In the mix, my impressions from his YouTube highlights were “Andy Mcgrath like but taller”

Not sure about his kicking. If it’s good could be elite. Quite a few guys in the 10-20 range look really good would be stoked to get 2

So three ND picks and likely 1 rookie pick unless we keep both Hunter and Voss.

One of those 3/4 picks needs to be a ruck.
Can see us taking a ruck with our second.

IF NOT ACCEPTED - Continue with 1)

1) E.Read (Bid)
2) J.Rogers (Bid)
3) N.Caddy
4) D.Wilson

14) T.Goad
15) Gothard/Sanchez
16) Gothard/Sanchez

* This would be close to my list with some finer readjustments based on doing it quickly

I hope we target the best footballers on the board with those picks in the 30s. Rather than take an Alister Lord type who we drafted with the thoughts to be a half back and half back only

ive posted this a bit this year that we've seem to have selected one position only type guys later in the drafts.

Wouldn't mind some versatility in the guys we take later in the drafts. If it means they are a runner who can play wing or half back, a marking type who can play half back r half forward. A powerful kid who can play fwd or mid so be it.

Its what Sydney did 12 months ago

Be interesting who 👀 bids on a C.Cleary but it wont matter with Sydneys picks

Provided earlier in thread

The only addition and i dont track height but i believe i saw 188cm from the combine which is a great height i thought he was 185. Maybe developing late (but born early) still and performed very well as an under ager

HBF, i feel ive seen enough where he can shut down his opponent and not just be rebounding left footer half back who changes angles. Can defend deep imo. Can play wing.

Not sure what his old mans size is, as to how he fills out. Hes still skinny right now

A leader, captains everything. From Swan Districts they dont make many soft footballers outside Rory Lobb

My concern with these WA kids is they were a pretty poor team but we see atleast 6 inside the top 30 and 8 inside the top 40 probably. Whos going to fail from that group, why wernt they better... many reasons possible

Sydney tried that with GWS last year and the Giants told them to shove it.

GCS are expecting a bid for Read and probably Rogers around then (10-12 range), and have planned for it. They would tell us to get stuffed and match the bid.

All you do is make enemies. It's a terrible idea.
I can guarantee you GWS are thinking about bidding on the Sydney Academcy kid at 16 (will be 20) who's name escapes me to stuff them around this year.

why are we not discussing Harry DeMattia more Keystone agony eDPS ?

Quick, reasonable skills. Seems he could start at half back and end up transitioning into that midfielder he seems to play a t club level (Stingrays)

leader, versatile, god skills, quick

am I missing something?

Easy answer is the middle of the draft is full of players that are pretty vanilla and hard to evaluate. Something good will come from the middle somewhere but it is not easy to see.

Probably

But its worth the question atleast

GWS in hindsight were better off taking the deal

GC will back themselves in next year

It could be F1, F2, 26, 27 for 9, 31 and 35 - I dont know exactly what the deal is but along those lines of the 2 mentioned

It will be interestint what

Walter Bid 2
E.Read Bid 9
J.Rogers Bid 10
W.Graham Bid 29

And where that leaves them currently, the later 3 bid by us

Yeh watched him live a couple times

We should be, hes a player i really like in that group

Hard as nails, nice kick with penetration. He challenges Hind/Heppell/Cox for a HBF role early on and then as you said transitions

Ive always liked him for us

Zak Jones type but obviousily the left foot and a couple cms bigger

We desperately need a left footer down back

Refusal to put forward a firm opinion on a player because you haven’t seen enough of them demonstrates integrity.

Pretending you’re an expert about players you’ve barely watched demonstrates that you’re a pompous blowhard.
