Stephen rowe going hard on the crows is amazing. Calling it a boys club , everyone needs to go etc.. why the **** can't we have anyone in the media like that. Yes he's a Muppet but atleast he's emotive and isn't scared to say the truth.
100%

Media is full of apologists for Ken. However when it is their own club, they actually understand why we feel the way we do and are far more critical.

The problem is those that are on our side are an ex-coached by Ken player, a talk show host who is only new in the seat and an actual board member who can't go off script.

We need a stronger voice. The Tredrea untenable comments last year were the best thing to happen to us. Need more of it.

It’s weird how it’s changed, they clipped they’re beloved Neil Craig for not getting it done with much more success.

Perhaps attracting coaching talent to this state is real. Maybe the coaches know how hard it is to win as a non vic coach

Since they seem to like recruiting from our assistant pool, Chad Cornes has extensive experience as an assistant coach and would be a wonderful story to follow in his father's footsteps.
He did grow up a Crows fan.

I can't see how both the Cornes brothers don't have some love for their childhood team.

I see the club put Ben Keays before the media this morning to answer the tough questions. Where's the club's leaders?

That's word-for-word what we've been saying about our own club, just with different names.

Maybe Rick is right. Is this where we are at with AFL football in SA?
Is this how we need to be?
Is stability over success the new black?

Who would you like?

Again led by Captain Jordan Dawson who was crowned Club Champion and All Australian in his first year in the role, the group will include three Vice-Captains in Brodie Smith, Ben Keays and Reilly O’Brien.

The four additions to an expanded leadership model for this season are forwards Darcy Fogarty and Lachlan Murphy and defenders Wayne Milera and Mitch Hinge.

This is one of the things I so admired about Port in the sanfl. We behaved like a professional Victorian club. We were all about winning and made sure we did everything utterly ruthlessly and the right way to keep winning.

Now we are just another South Australian club. It's not just Hinkley, he's a symptom but the cause starts higher up.

Just because he stirs up the Paulenes from Pooraka doesn't mean anyone at the AFC takes any notice of him, that's why people moaning about Tredrea taking the foot off publically is laughable he's now inside the tent instead of pissing in the wind on AM radio like Rowey.
You don't think pressure from the media plays a huge role in coaches getting sacked?

Crows first rounders over the past decade and a bit

2012: Nil (Tippettgate)
2013: Nil (Tippettgate)
2014: Lever
2015: Milera, Doedee
2016: Gallucci
2017: Traded for Gibbs, Traded for Gibbs, Fogarty
2018: Jones, McHenry
2019: McAsey
2020: Thilthorpe, Pedlar
2021: Rachele
2022: Michalanney
2023: Curtin

The popular and industry belief that the Crows were primed to take the next step and push for the eight, if not the edges of the top-4, was insane.

They haven’t won a game at the MCG since 2017 for a reason.

Prime Leigh Matthews would struggle to do much more than Nicks has with the ‘talent’ at his disposal.

How the crows are umpired. Half a dozen players grab Cumberland around the throat but don't give away a free. Seems legit.

Just remember that there has been a total of 1 premiership won by the 8 non Victorian clubs combined since Hinkley took charge 12 years ago. The odds of any non Victorian team winning a flag are low under any set of circumstances. But yes, Walsh was a winner and either team would've been a better chance with him at the helm.
I've never bought in to this idea.

The reality is that both South Australian clubs are run terribly. The clowns run a toxic racist shithole that most rational players would do anything to get out of asap; a team of Charlie Cameron, Patrick Dangerfield, Jake Lever, Eddie Betts etc added to Rory Laird, Taylah Walker, Jordan Dawson, absolutely should have won a flag. We on the other hand are the exact opposite over the past decade, a nice guy with a constant inferiority complex, led by no hopers and as a result fall apart every time we're in any big game. If we fixed the leadership and culture we should have won 1 or 2 also.

You look beyond South Australia and Gold Coast, GWS and Fremantle have honestly never really established themselves (despite the time the last one has been there).

So who's left after that? West Coast, Brisbane and Sydney. If you extend your dataset to this century, all three of these teams bat above average for both grand final appearances and flags.

I'm not denying there isn't an advantage to being in Melbourne and getting to play the grand final at home, and you can look at individual years like 2016 where Sydney were robbed, but in general it just feels like an excuse to me.

The odds of a non Victorian team entering the AFL would be zero if you exclude us. The odds of a brand new team in the modern era in their first 10 years winning more games than any other side, or winning 3 minor premierships, or making 2 grand finals and winning a flag, should be pretty close to zero if you exclude us. We were always the exception.

We used to be a club that embraced whatever challenge was in front of us before 2013. We need to get back to that and end the complaints about how things are hard.

Their development is no good. They get nothing out of their second stringers except for Keays. Their draftees often show a bit warly then nothing, they stagnate at a poor level. They also keep their players too long. 5-6 years to maybe get a back up role player is too long.

Media pressure (or in Ken's case - lack of) plays a much bigger part than you think.
