Mrs and I were talking about V day on the way to cash in all the cans and bottles at the recycling place.
She got a rose and a coffee from her work..

Her and the girls were talking about V day they asked if I brought her flowers yes but not every year it's not a big deal she said.
They were shocked 😂.then another girl goes my hubby didn't me flowers one year I said I didn't want any and she still raged.
Then the next year her hubby spend 100 dollars on flowers and she raged hard because it was too much 😂 😂.
Poor bloke 😂.

I got my wife a single rose which she liked so it started well. I then commented it’s a lot cheaper than a full bunch, well let’s just say I should have quit when I was ahead…

It's not like you buy a full bunch and give them one/two every year 😛.

My Wallet and bank balance is a lot healthier for being #single most of my 45 years on Earth (btw don't feel bad for me, i am very much an introvert who prefers my own company, I have tried the relationship stuff several times in the past and I realise I am not cut out for it)

I'd think about it if Chief sponsored me with a bigfooty.com t shirt (I have wanted one of those babies for years,

Tbh if i win this year's tipping comp, I would much rather have an officially licensed and endorsed by Gordon Groves Big Footy T-Shirt than the 500 dollars !

I converse with online friends in America and The UK who have no idea about Aussie Rules yet have heard of Big Footy lol

It's kind of a big deal

Get her 11 roses tomorrow. Shock the hell out of her.

You can thank me later

I got a friend over in England she loves Aussie reality. It's just bizzare cause I don't watch any of their crap 🤣

Poms have always been secretly jelly of our laid back lifestyle and weather lol but when we play them in the cricket/rugger/soccer etc all bets all off

Yeah I'd rather flowers on ANY OTHER DAY because it would mean that he thought of it all by himself

Reminds me of a quote one of my best mate's (Les) posted on Twitter many years ago on Mother's Day

'Every day should be mother's day' and I couldn't agree me.

It's more meaningful for me now as my mother's memory and health is deteriorating rapidly (like my Grandma and Aunts who have passed away) and it's absolutely destroying me emotionally.

I cannot go to the footy or A League as often as I did in the past anymore, I don't mind, bur I am absolutely not putting my Mum in a home. But yeah every day is getting hard and painful seeing her struggle remembering the basic things.

I often feel like a bad/shit son thinking I could do better (I have aspergers and other disabilities and I cannot cook for love nor money)

Sorry for ranting, hoping your hubby and you had a wonderful V's Day :)

You are certainly not a bad son. In fact the opposite. The fact you clearly care so deeply about your mum makes you a great son. I have Asperger’s myself (as does my husband), and I can’t speak for you, but for me personally, I feel all the feels, have all the emotions, take on and internalise the emotions others are displaying around me - but I seem to be incapable of finding a socially appropriate way of expressing the intensity of the emotions I internalise.

Thank you so much. That means a lot to me. Very kind and reassuring

Unfortunately my only sibling (my older brother aka the bane of my life) doesn't really understand and making life all the more stressful for both of us.

It's rather galling that I feel like my older brother is my life long enemy.

Quite a bit thankfully, alas I cannot be able to go out and leave her on her own for more than a day or two

Maybe look into the occasional respite care
Just a weekend
We did with this with our mum and she actually enjoyed it - felt like going to a hotel

You are doing a good thing but it can be very taxing and impact your own health so take care of yourself
