What's been your club's best 5 year period in history?

2 flags is better than 1. But two teams winning a different amount of flags isn’t what’s being compared
when two teams win the same amount of flags why the hell does the sequence matter. That’s the point
If you need it explained to you at this point you will never get it.

There’s a reason back to back flags are revered.

Back to back to back even more so.

This is what you fail to comprehend.

There is no tie, when one team has won a threepeat in 4 straight GF’s and the other hasn’t.

And like I said you can shove AA’s and being “more celebrated”.
AA’s soon meant nothing, when a player could win a B&F in a premiership year and not be in the team.

It’s a five year period. What does winning 3 in a row matter.

You won 3 flags and were runner up on another.
We did the same.
So did Brisbane.

We can just as easily turn around and say we were winning for longer. What difference does it make.

You can tell yourself whatever you want, but it’s ****ing laughable that you put your fingers in your ears and just refuse to accept the reality of a 3peat being a far bigger and better accomplishment than not being able to back it up.

1955 = Flag
1956 = Flag
1957 = Flag
1958 = Runners Up
1959 = Flag

4 flags from 5 Grand Finals, 5 minor premiers, 82 wins - 19 losses, 2 draws at 80% success rate.
People have forgotten just what an upset 1958 was. Melbourne finished that year 3 games on top, and absolutely belted Collingwood in their first final.

It's right up there with 1998 and 2008 as the biggest Grand Final upsets in the VFL/AFL.

Competitors in everything (sports, board games, reality TV, economics and finance,...) all over the world: Back-to-back baby!!!
Geelong fans: 2 wins is 2 wins.

Anyway, Richmond's best five-year stretch is 2017-2020 plus either of the year before or after.

We’ve won back to back. It doesn’t make our 50s team better than our 2000s team.

Does it make you a better team. It’s not a hard question to answer.
Of course it makes you a better team.

You’ve gone to the top of the mountain and then when everyone is trying to stop you you’ve gone and done it again TWICE.

I mean really? You guys won 4 in a row and you think the best period in Collingwoods history is one where you made 2 grand finals and lost one?

Geelongs is 7-11 though.

  • Made 4 Grand Finals
  • Made Prelims every year
  • 3 premierships
  • 2 Brownlows
  • 93-17 record

1950-54 was also a good era but not as good as the one above.
Yeah i would of thought 4 flags in a row beats one but we are Pies supporters

I guess it depends whether you are talking about the 'Club' (Hawthorn/Geelong), or the 'Team' that represented the clubs each year.

Geelong 2007 compared to Geelong 2011 had only 12 players that played both GFs.

Hawthorn 2013 compared to Hawthorn 2015 had 17 players that played both GFs AND the same coach.

So…. Winning 13-14 makes you better than the team that won 07/09.

If those sides met, you would win, because back to back.

The achievement or status or whatever you want to call it, I can get. The idea of it making an outfit ‘better’ doesn’t resonate at all.

No-one is arguing that. What they’re arguing is B-2-B is seen as a greater achievement than having a gap year between wins, and it’s a concept supported by competitors and fans worldwide in all competitions and formats, apart from, it seems, fans of the Geelong FC.
