McVee.So do we return fire with rumours of McVee, Rivers and van Rooyen meeting with Fremantle whilst in WA?

“Victorian clubs feel the door is ajar for Jackson to have his head turned.“
Mitch, that is just such a useless nothingburger of a sentence.
If the angle is his partner is based over there just come out and say that. Saying that there we can’t afford Kozz and Warner without giving up something significant is self evident.

Jackson has five years to run on his contract (including 2025). I'm not sure anyone has been traded with four years to go.
I'll keep an eye out next week for a Jackson contract extension.
It's a PR stunt by Melbourne, not by Cleary. Cleary just enabled it by being ridiculously vague with his wording."pr stunt". lol, way too many egos on this board, honestly. Mitch Cleary did absolutely nothing wrong, never said Jackson wanted out, used his words very well. Mitch is also one of very few good journalists in this sport and knows interstate lists quite well.
Melbourne aren't desperate either, they're just trying to better themselves, which is what every sporting club does. This isn't some petty move because of Kozzie, that's just nuffie mindset.
Well said, and they'll lose key players after this season and they know it.It's a PR stunt by Melbourne, not by Cleary. Cleary just enabled it by being ridiculously vague with his wording.
Their club have been hammered all off and pre-season with the Oliver and Petracca shit, and then for the past few weeks with Pickett. They have a player who is actively and publicly showing he wants out before the season even starts. I can't believe you can be that niave to think that they might take this opportunity to spin the truth to get just an inkling of positivity heading their way. Go and talk to their CFO and I'm sure you'd find they are haemorrhaging money atm as well.
Nothing wrong with clubs using the media to their advantage by setting up a narrative they want, we do it to with Rhino all the time. Of course this is absolute BS, the timing of it is far too convenient otherwise.
Um...At least early commentary has Jackson worth more than pickett, which is accurate
Um...
King: “What if it was - you can have Kozzy Pickett but it’s going to cost you a first-round pick and Luke Jackson?”
Cleary nipping that comment in the butt. tDK worth 1.7 a year, Jackson similar player
Harder to find a big than it is a small

For sure. If our list plays to potential the salary cap management will be a challenge. That's a big part of why the long contracts have proliferated. If a club is willing to pay that sort of money for that sort of player then Jackson's new manager would only be doing his job to see if he can move Jackson onto that sort of contract.

Haha how’s David King - Luke Jackson AND freos first rounder in exchange for Pickett?!
**** me has Pickett turned in to Wayne Carey!
Kingy trying to devalue Jackson - what a twat. At least Mitch shot him down decisively.
Most interesting titbit here for me is Mitch saying “Jackson sees himself as a number one ruckman”
I have heard this said before a number of times in the past by different people and it's always made me wonder… there must be some truth to it
The reality is as long as Sean Darcy is at Freo then Luke wont be the number one ruck. So I cant see how that matches up with his desire to be a number one ruckman?

It’s just like Lobb, came here cos he wanted to be a forward, left cos he apparently wanted to be a ruck (or something of the sort).
You ask Jackson why he came here and the story is that Freo sold it to him by saying they didn’t just see him as a ruckman.
It’s just manager talk for whatever narrative is more convenient at the time.
I'd let him go for the trade capital required to move him on a $1.7m contact with 4 years to go on his current one. Reckon it would break some records. If clubs are offering $1.7m a year for a forward/ruck then he's leaving almost a million on the table a year, a career's worth of money just in his existing contract.
I'd expect the manager to claim Jackson himself is pregnant and needs to be closer to his mother, who is moving to Melbourne to be closer to Luke after he moves there - all in a whateverittakes style media blitz to avoid the totally understandable "Luke can make nearly twice the money at market rate and we want to get that for him".
But a club paying a fortune for a contracted player comes with a fortune in trade cost too.
