You have to wonder if some players started zoning out during team meetings when he was coach.

Blind Freddy could tell you that DC had a good game and was our best. Maybe the expectations are too high for him but seemed like a typical game aside from the missed set shot. Still thought he was solid down the line and filling the hole down back.

The issue with games like this is when the opposition team lose their ruck, they go into every contest expecting to lose the hit out so they adjust accordingly.

It was a lot better than typical or expected. He took 5 pack marks down the line and had 19 contested possessions for the match. If he plays like that all year, he'll not only be the All Australian ruckman by a mile, but he'll break the contested mark and contested possessions records since they've been recorded in the AFL.

No panic for me yet, its embarrassing and it hurts to lose like that but im happy to bin this and move on to Port and just hoping it’s a one off this year…

I say this because when have we ever had anything go right at that ground? Give me GWS at the G any day and I’m confident we win that.

The big positive (only positive) is that we don’t have to play at Engie or against the Giants again this year, unless we play them in a home final there.

I’m excited to finally kick off the season at our ground in front of 80k. That’s how it should be. Never ever doubt us at the home of footy.

I think we did have a win there in 2022. Nobby had some desperate plays that saved the game too. I think that’s right. Could be wrong on this too

We played GWS at the MCG in round 15(?) that year i believe. That was a win. I can’t really remember the last time we won over in Sydney

I was there. Cloke was marking everything and the Collingwood crowd was massive!

Side note, we live in Canberra and have family GWS membership so we can attend AFL games in Canberra. We sat behind the Giants cheersquad yesterday and it was nice from an AFL perspective to see them have a strong supporter base and the crowd really getting into it.

The whole game yday Pies fans only got one Collingwooooooooooood chant going. Disappointing

Good luck with that wish. The good folk of Western Sydney being interested in footy is the AFL's holy grail - trying to get them interested from the start of the season is the goal of Opening round - and we're the best club for it.

There are other options. Such as getting another big Victorian club, or playing the Sydney derby.

Exactly. Why not send the Hollywood Hawks up there? Or Carlton? They think they're a big Vic club. Or Cats? The destination club.

Not as good options though. Im expecting it to be the price we pay for Anzac Day and Queens Bday. Just got to prepare for it. They keep giving us a basket case as our practice match.

For me, it should be 'Home' Round.

First game of the season, let all clubs play in their home state so they can find their feet without travel.

COL vs CAR
WBD vs NOR
ESS vs HAW
GEE vs MEL
RIC vs STK

That would be a cracking opener, plenty of rivalries and all teams training to their conditions. I know we have the 'Derby' but that could be moved in favour of celebrating each team playing at 'Home'.
