Fascinated to see how this game plays out. We were ordinary vs GC and Freo, had a good start vs Brisbane then faded and had a decent middle patch vs GWS. Not really a consistent pattern. Carlton have led every game at half time but just find ways to lose.

Would not want to be Michael Voss if it's Carlton by a small margin at HT and 3QT.

IF we are only a few goal down at half time... i would be pretty confident.

Disagree on this. Waterman coming back in shouldn't be at the expense of a younger player that is contributing over someone that isn't. Allen should be dropped if selection integrity is valued.

We don't disagree, I'm just putting out there that this is odds on what is going to happen.

Were playing for picks not wins.
plus we need to play Carlton into form otherwise that Hawthorn future first looks stupid.
Even in the darkest depths of Synergy Culture, we weren't tanking. Fans hoping we lose to get a better pick is different to tanking. Right now, I haven't heard anyone say they hope we lose. I think everyone wants a top 5 pick, but we're getting it anyway. We're in the "lets get our kids better" mode.

100%. It’s followed directly on from the ‘our senior players ain’t gonna do shit’ phase we’ve been experiencing for too long

I disagree, we aren't in a "let's get out kids better" mode. The club made a commitment to "let's get more competitive" mode, and went out and recruited additional mature bodies and has committed to playing them all, as well as the complete suite of Simpson credits players.

Nothing has been done to indicate that is not what we intended to do and intend to keep doing. We have had some injuries to best 22 players and new recruits have come in to play those roles. So far we have left Jack Williams out of two games, dropped Clay Hall in order to make way for Jack Graham, and banished Harry Edwards from the side for a missed handball. There are no other though selection choices to speak of. Until we see what the selections are this week, there has been no deviation from the strategy to prioritise experience in order to have the strongest 22 possible week to week. We look on track to lose every game of the season doing this so I'd rather be tanking frankly, if that's what it takes to actually prioritise youth over experience.

If this was true, we wouldn’t be able to field a team at the moment. I’ve never seen so many muffed handballs

The club is doing that shit, but I think most on here are going, "Draper, Draper, Draper, Draper", and "Sharp, Sharp, Sharp, Sharp". There was a lot of "just take Harley" back in the day. These corporate clowns who want fast results which compromise substance....

That's a preeeety BIG if.

I'm not a massive Duggan fan - he's an a average player, makes the back end of B22 but you'd hope he gets pushed out by better talent sooner rather than later. But watching the footage of him not following Jones, it looks to me like he assumed the defence would pick him up and he was staying up field to be an outlet.
I watched the kayo mini last nigh. There is a whistle sound and Duggan turns his head and slows up. Jones doesn't even think about the sound and keeps charging.

It's endemic to this side, everyone wants to pull up the split second they think there is a whistle and even sometimes when there isn't a whistle (re: Ginbey vs Freo iirc). The number of times we get destroyed by teams playing on to advantage because we all come to a dead stop as fast as possible is bizarre.

Would also beg the question as to why Liam Baker was headhunted when he commits 20 crimes against disposal efficiency every week.
Deadset average player. He one of them role players that’s valuable to a good side (eg jones, hutch) but not the the type of player that you want being a leader in a shite side like ours. Cole and Duggan are another two, actually complemented the side in the late 20’s but now as seniors are just not good enough to shape and support the youth. This year our biggest issues been on our seniors, not enough great players and all the seniors bar a couple have been terrible down and out form.

Our boy Jackson done dirty by these two fraudsters IMO

Whilst I agree with most of what you're saying, the fact still remains he'd be close to our best player this year, thus far.

That's a huge indictment on where we're at as a team. How the **** could be have fallen so fast and hard since 18.
It was obviously know from the outside hence why we picked him up in the first place...To "raise the standards". Sadly he's just a valuable off the field as on it.

Simmo and co have a lot to answer for.

Recruiting/drafting didn’t help in simmo’s ear has been atrocious and i know that’s largely due to us being at the top end of the ladder but reckon some sides with a similar hand would have had a better success rate.

The more I watch this midfield and the more I watch Harley, he needs a bloke like Warner and quite frankly I don’t think even Warner himself is enough. He needs strong leaders in the middle, he needs support there and most importantly he needs to be shielded/protected at such a young age. Reckon the lack of quality midfield support would be as a big issue in not re-signing as the lure of home, the clubs current predicament and the uncertainty in it’s future.

Yeah on rewatch of the mini that was disgraceful by Duggan. Didn’t notice it live.

Have to say the 2021-2023 drafting was pretty good imo.
Probably 11 players of AFL quality and some real A grade talent emerging.

The midfield and leaders in there are the big issue, apart from Yeo, and as you say we need more than Warner, agree we need 2 imo.
That would improve our output dramatically and help with the development of our young core across the board.

Why the hell was baker recruited.... when does this start to be questioned again as to the absurdity of it.

Faaark man, we get it. You're either a shitty troll or just a massive whiney campaigner. Get some new material.

These dreadful mistakes need to be highlighted. It may be annoying to be reminded but pyke and co, must accept responsibility for this shitshow.

Yeah just about put a line theough Yeo now. I’m glad we got close to a full season of Yeo close to his best last season.
