Autopsy Roos lose to Suns

Powell had equal most tackles on the ground, was second in the side for pressure acts as well, just behind Sheezel.

The stats lie.

Powell's "tackles" today were useless. Anyone with eyes in their head saw it for themselves.

I thought he was ineffective, irrespective of tackles - but at least he was obviously trying to fight it out.

2024 points against 2550 over 23 games

110 avg points conceded per game.

2025 poins against 551 over 5 games

110 avg points conceded per game.

You rarely win games conceding 110 points.

Stats say we haven't improved at all.
Scoring is up across the competition

By this metric Brisbane are going backward.

2024 they averaged 74.6 points against after 5 games (including games against us and Melbourne)
2025 they're averaging 79.8 points against (with 5 minutes left against the Dogs who they're playing as I type) with games against Richmond and West Coast in that 5 and the game against Geelong in a downpour.

We've also had a really tough start to the year and we all knew it would be. Gold Coast, Adelaide, Sydney and the Dogs are impressive football teams. Melbourne we obviously smashed.

Carlton, Port and Essendon over the next 3 will be interesting.

3-5 is the bare minimum.

Based on our football so far, that won’t happen.

Essendon will torch us on the outside as they always do.

We haven’t won in Adelaide since the Snowtown murders and Good Friday is completely winnable and that’s when we do our worst work.

It is simple for me. Like most of our mids, he lacks the strength, acceleration and agility to be effective unless the opposition is right in front of him.

Yep. Our potential trade targets willing to talk shit about us like that is just fkd. Revoke the offer now.
The arrogance is sickening.

That’s the issue right there. To get the ‘Maynard’ types from other clubs we have to pay them overs, otherwise they won’t come—and all we end up with is a bunch of players who don’t have their heart and soul in it. I’d say Luke Parker will be the exception, and most likely Darling too—he’s got something to prove, kind of.

Brisbane were shit house (2-3 at round 5, eventually 2-5 after 7) at the start of last year and they know it.

This actually strengthens my point; scoring is up across the competition.

Brisbane being bad early days last year means their ability to prevent opposition scoring has gone backwards this year.

I don't disagree that 110 points against us bad, but we're scoring a lot more than we were in any 5-game patch last year.

Yeah I agree. I'm okay with the aggressive game plan tbh especially as scoring was so flipping hard for us for so long. And I do at least see a game plan compared to the Noble days of absolutely no one to kick to.

It's the way oppositions are scoring against us that's scary. Waltzing it out of the stoppage and with chains of very poor contest losses unfortunately has nothing to do with game plan and everything to do with will to compete.

Not sure how Al gets it out of them if he hasn't been able to yet.

I think a lot of North fans have just stopped caring.

This place is quiet as a church mouse tonight, which is wild considering we played a game today.

Did we expect to lose by 50 points? Yes
Did we expect to be leading going into time on in the third quarter? No
That will have to do for now. No other option, really
I think we all probably know this, but we are all angry that it's our lot.

Most footy pundits still think we're doing alright. Flogged by Sydney? Yeh they were in the GF. Flogged by GC? Far out you did alright against them they're red hot, gave it a crack for 3 qtrs.

If this was clarkos 2nd year, or even the 3rd or 4th year of us being garbo. But it's year 6.

As most of attributed, it's actually year 3 for mitigating reasons. Year 2 even due to the saga.

It sucks. It's crap. But there is still hope it is the right path. But it's the hope that kills you

It’s tiring.

It’s tiring and predictable.

Why dissect another game where we came up short.

Come in here and arguing with people who have been hurt as much as I have?

None of it matters. How the team line up, who is in or out.

It’s all between their ears and they melt in the face of pressure.

I just wan to see us win games of footy. I don’t even need a flag at this point I just want to see us run out and not shit the bed every year.

Round 5 and we’ve already got two giant steaming turds in there.

I’m still hopeful - defending across the ground is part will and part fitness and part system and they seem to get it right at least in bursts most weeks. And maybe against more ordinary teams it works as well as it did against Melbourne and we don’t get punished so badly when it drops away.

The actual back 6 still feels a long way from even being a work in progress - can’t seem to settle on who plays there or what they are doing.

I don’t know, maybe against a not real team in a not real round it doesn’t feel like it matters as much. At home against Carlton when many more of us see it in person I don’t think there will be a lack of caring.

It sh….ts me to tears that I have to watch other AFL games to see a decent contest, that used to be us, always up for a contest regardless of our ladder position.

During the swans game in the last quarter with what fans were left at the ground it was like viewing time at the morgue.

People care but it’s like we’ve been conditioned to just say shit like ‘oh well’. Hit a collective point of apathy.

Every single North member should have an under current of anger at us remaining so down for so long.

I honestly feel like if a supporter doesn't have just little bit of fury at it, they haven’t been paying attention.

What good is our fury?
