Yeah but they don't play night games so it evens out.
So if he plays for Freo or eagles does he get the same curfew regardless of the fact that they travel every second game

Probably gets the same sentence regardless who he plays for, no one is stopping Balta playing football every week. Yes it's his job but there is nothing stopping him playing VFL for those games, it actually would benefit the kids anyway

My mistake, I assumed the July Essendon game was Dreamtime at the G to coincidence with NAIDOC Week, didn't realise the Dreamtime game was in May to coincide with NRW. Still I'd say it's fair bet that the round 18 game in July against Essendon will also be at night, looking at the alternatives that round.
So that leaves away games against GWS and West Coast where Balta will be out, along with night games against Melbourne, Essendon and possibly another game against Essendon and a game against Geelong TBC. Somewhere between 4-6.

He should. It shouldn't make a difference in terms of sentencing, particularly considering he's in the fortunate position of still being secure in having a job and not at risk of being dumped like a lot of other people woukd have been under the same circumstances.

If Richmond are smart and I think they are they basically come out and say we accept the punishment and Balta will learn from this, it's been a tough period and now it's about moving on. Something along those lines for the PR and let Balta play VFL when it is at night not a big deal

Pretty much think weirdly the courts have taken the decision for the AFL/Richmond. 9 ish games seems appropriate.

Depends on how their contract is set up
Thomas was a multiple offender who kept offending after chargers had been laid. I'm pretty sure there have been allegations since he was banned by the AFL.

It's hard to say, when thankfully such incidents are few and far between. It's something though: ordinarily people would probably laugh at such a sentence being imposed, but the curfew does impact Balta, probably more than the average Joe.

Can't see them appealing it. The sentence could be over and done with before the appeal was heard. And he runs the risk of being resentenced with worse conditions.
He doesn't have any right to work . Try losing your license for DUI there are very few exceptions of loss of license regardless of employment status.
He needs to cop it on the chin and move on , he's still getting paid and can train with the club and play VFL when he can't make curfew.
He could have seriously injured or killed that guy. Balta can walk the streets , keep his job and move on with his life.
