Ehh we kicked 6.11

We kick straight we win, we had all of the momentum and kicked 3 behinds in a 1.30 minute period right at the end of the game including a missed shot straight in front 30m out.

Other teams may get worried about dropping games like this, Cats just roll on and do as they do.
Plenty of blokes to come back that will strengthen up the side and get our structure back, we were playing Jezza in the ruck FFS lol.

It's a bit instructive that we're two games behind Hawthorn - but that they've played four of the current bottom five, and we've only played one (Melbourne).

Lions have played Eagles, Richmond and North early too.

We still haven’t played any of them and we get the Tigers twice too.
Think we are doing much better than people have suggested, we’ve had a brutal stretch and it will continue for a few more weeks.

Port in Adelaide then fired up Doggies at Kardinia.

After that it’s

Eagles in Perth
Suns in Geelong (finally not up in QLD/NT and at Kardinia)
Bombers at the G
Lions in Geelong (again Finally they actually travel to play us at Kardinia)
Tigers at the G
GWS at GWS
Saints at Kardinia
North at Marvel instead of the usual Tassie trip

If we can go at least 6 wins in those 8 games that SHOULD lock us in for a Finals berth.
Then we roll for the last 4 rounds and go from there.

If we win only 4 of those then we’ll be clawing onto the 8 for our lives.

Hey, why hasn't Bont signed?
I'm hearing there will be announcement this week.

He was just waiting to see whether he'd be the new leader of the Catholic Church first. Now that the Pope has been selected, he can focus his attention on footy.

A few themes through the 17 pages to date. Clark - he's an inside mid and we had him on a wing. He has a dip but he's not a winger. Put him back in the VFL as an inside mid and he'll rack them up again. At present he isn't going to get a gig as an inside mid in the AFL so he has to learn another gig or bide his time and get bigger. Mullin - potted for no other reason than a few like potting him. At the ground, he was good. His opponents did nothing, he is clean when he gets it and when he does compete in the air he doesn't get out marked. He's a tough little bugger and probably deserved at least one or two more frees when driven into the ground or taken high. Neale, he is going to be good but having to play ruck and key forward is tough for someone who has played all of 29 games. By the way, the biggest difference between the sides (besides the set shot kicking) was delivery into the forward line. We break from the centre and kick high floating bombs to no one's advantage. They ran and kicked to advantage. Neale kicked one, deft tap set up another and getting the ball to ground set up another one or two. He's not kicking bags but it isn't a bust by any means. By the way, he plays for the Giants with their delivery forward and on COS and he kicks a few as well. COS - looks tired which is to be expected. Good as the third tall down back, not as a KPD. Close - he's been ordinary for a while now with a few flashes occasionally. He was MIA yesterday and for me, worse than Clark who at least puts his head over the ball. Close at his best chased and tackled. 1 tackle yesterday and 50m gained. No ruck so Blitz plays there and not on Hogan. Hogan doesn't kick 7 on Blitz, or Henry or Kolo or even Stewart.

Neale isn't competitive. He got pushed aside so easily in a back pocket ruck contest by Riccardi that resulted in a goal. The bloke is a man mountain and Riccardi just brushed him aside. Pair that with him going one-handed at a ground ball the week prior. He needs to toughen up tenfold.

4 losses by a combined 38 points (average losing margin 9.5 points). Pies and Lions have both been destroyed already this year (by GWS/Pies respectively). We've been in every single game down to the last five minutes.

Not making excuses for throwing the game away yesterday, as we really should have won, but in the grand scheme of things we are going OK.

Get Stewart, Henry and Humphries back in over the next 1-2 weeks and things look a lot better.
We have to expect that when Henry comes back it will take 2-3 weeks for him to start to find form. Stewart and Humphries likely to take 1-2 weeks.

Imagine Stevens on a wing or HFF with blokes like Whitfield and Zorko running off him all day. Unfortunately, his running ability is not up to AFL standard and that was clear from U18s.

Comparing Stevens in the VFL this year compared to last year, he definitely looks like he's covering the ground better and once he's moving he's not slow but he's not explosive over those first few steps which is where he could be caught out if he's being asked to play wing or half-forward flank

I really enjoy watching him in the VFL, what he's bringing around the contests and an attitude where you can clearly see he's enjoying his time out on the field, but he's an inside mid and not an outside or link up player

I'd love to see him get a chance in the seniors to see what he has to offer, but I want to see that with him in the coal face getting his hands dirty and if he can be that bigger bodied mid we're kinda missing in the guts

Humphries played on and hopefully picks up where he left off.

He might not be as spooked as Miers for example, who was avoiding contact yesterday.

We've also got Swans at the SCG in August. They should be beatable.
Currently figuring out how to get 2 tickets. Anyone-Give me a hoy if you have any ideas.

Completely agree c09. If you want a fast will-of-the-wisp flanker, try Oli Wiltshire. But George is the antithesis of Wiltshire. I too have liked his attitude in the VFL and he has been best or near best in every game he has played.

I even like his name. George. Not Gryan, or Keighton or even another Oliver. Just plain George. It's how he plays, no frills, no over the top celebrations, no headband. He sees the ball in a pack and he just barges in after it. Oppo player within grasp, he'll tackle him. But he won't catch them once they get away.

My prediction (and that not worth much) is that he plays this week (as long as not too many of the big names come back in).

It's not like they've beaten us in any game that really mattered. We've played them in like 1 final I think and had an easy win over them.

I do actually enjoy watching the dogs v gws games though for that rivalry the teams have. Love seeing your team get over the top of them.

They're not on sale yet are they?

Can you not just get on ticketek once released with barcode?

No not yet. probably panicking, they have 68k members, GA is limited with opposing Clubs.
We have a chance through sponsor, last minute, but not ideal as paid for airfares and accom.

Can use my barcode if you need one. I have H&A membership.

Oh I've never read the fine print, it's only for all VIC games.

I don't know what membership provides access for interstate. Prob social club?

Worst loss in a long time. Not the biggest loss, the worst. Because it was winnable. With a paper thin backline was truly deplorable, with the talls completely outclassed, outsmarted and outplayed, held together by 2 solid smalls, we still came close to winning.

But then the rest of the team had brains of mush.

Miers looks gun shy.

Teams that play Geelong have struggled to win the following week over the last 2 decades so I was surprised to see 5 out of 8 have so far this year, however drilling down a bit shows Saints and Brisbane played Richmond Hawks played West Coast the other 2 Adalaide got the Giants at the start of their 3 game slump but the Pies win over Freo was meritorious over Freo away off a 5 day break.
