Banners covers Dudley

One of our tall fwds have to come out for Darcy
If you seriously suggest Banners can "cover" Duds absence and that Banners will bring the connection with Reid, Freddy and Amiss that Duds has - geez you must be smoking the good stuff. Banners has roles in this team, but a replacement for Duds ain't one of them.

He has been doing okay job his last 100 games

Don't care about Banners last 10, 20, 30 50 or 100 games, he ain't a replacement for Duds and never will be ever.

Both teams going bigger is certainly interesting. Given the spread will be slower, Jackson onball could be huge. Fyfe straight in is the strangest of the calls though I suppose there's not a lot of runners to call on from Peel. If you were EVER going to bring Brodie back up though...

I can definitely see us winning this.
happy season 8 GIF

Simpson and Duds are not super quick.
Cooper a little above average and Duds below average speed.
Both faster than Nat and Sean as pairing though.
People seem lost in the fact that Gold Coast have selected two genuine ruckmen in Witts and Moyle. Jackson isn’t the messiah and can’t ruck all game against those two. Voss would be thrashed v Moyle.
Jackson on the other hand would be very versatile and dominant v Moyle. Even if Jackson goes on ball with Witts/Darcy, Gold Coast will be forced to oppose him.

Fyfe shouldn’t play 100%, very underdone.

But Bolton will have to cover Dudley, and Fyfe is the contested guy. Should be Aish instead, the safer option.

Concern is the run off half back. Even with Aish there, it’ll be hard work. Wagner is the easy option to go back and offer efficiency. Even play Banfield there as I thought he was handy and offers something different.

Overall it’s not a bad team. It was overloaded with half backers early on in the season. Now it’s the midfielders that can play forward and back.

The massive loss is Pearce, hopefully negated by the rain, I'm not as down on Draper as most here, reckon he will play a role, looked tired when he went out but had a week off a couple back so should be fine to go. Davies not at the level, can't see him making it even if her has outperformed Draper the past couple of weeks.

Fyfe is interesting, I've been calling out for some riskier calls with the sub/selection but now its happened I'm scared 😂 but I'll back him in, got the bye the following week so that helps if he has to come on early.

Darcy I expected as we were coming up against Witts, we all know that Jackson struggles with the big rucks, Darcy will have had 23 days off to get himself up for the game on the weekend, thats likely enough rest.

BigFooty: "JL's way too conservative with selections!"

JL: makes risky selections

BigFooty: "No not like that!"
That’s the issue though. Jlo is playing it safe by selecting Fyfe and Darcy as he values experience rather than form.
When they’re fit Omeara and Walters will be straight back in at the expense of giving continued experience to the young guys who will(hopefully) be here next season and beyond.

Good ideas but I recon I’ve figured it out.

Darcy comes in for Voss.
Fyfe comes in for Wagners run with role.
Banners plays a forward snap machine for Dudley.
Cox goes to Pearce role, Draper to Cox’s role.
Voss is the sub. He can replace Darcy or Banners if there is an injury (Fyfe?) and Banners can do any role except ruck but we have 3-4 of them just in case.

If the rain is torrential, which isn’t certain, then this would be the game to play Jackson as a mid. Size and strength matter in that situation.

I don’t think generally it is a good idea but may be for this game.

That would be an unmitigated disaster. The games we are winning now have been built on the uplift from emerging players like Dudley, Reid,Simpson, Worner, Wagner and Erasmus.
Choosing to install slow older players who can not apply pressure for four quarters is one way for JLo to hasten his exit.
We need to get games into players like Erasmus, Reid, Johnson etc. not gift games to players based on their past.

Last 10 games with Fantasy Points per game +/- to the RUCK position.
Most points given up is WCE (green), let you guess who is the least points given up...

Fantasy points are not an accurate measure of a teams performance though.

The other week Rowan Marshall scored 150 points as a ruckman and they lost to West Coast…

I couldn’t care less if Witts scored 180 points, if Jackson beat him around the ground

Not saying it's an indicator of team performance. I'm saying that as one of our best players and a player we need to be at their best in this game, GC reduce the impact of the position around the ground.
FYI, Fremantle give an extra 5pts per game to the position.
