Not to mention that if he went back off the mark and kicked down the line the result would have been exactly the same as if he turned it over. He had to go quick and look for the corridor.

Obviously trying a one step torp wasn’t the move, but as you say, the only reason they had a remote chance in the first place was because he busted his ass to get back in the hole and mark it, as he has done his whole career.

For a teammate to get in his face with “feedback”, when the game is already over is extremely poor.

I get you have a vendetta but it's getting a bit sad now. Big reason Dees had a big chance to win was Gawn. Those intercept marks he takes in D50 are so important. Best ruck I've ever seen

He probably suggested that Max kick it down the line because there was some free Melbourne players down the wing. Instead he went for a speculative barrel in the centre.

The problem with Max, he probably would have shanked it even if he'd done what May wanted him to.

He took 11, Pickett should have tried to tackle him - that’s not in question - but he ran too far. Look at the literal distance he ran.

Getting towards the end. Had a great career and was a gun FB which every premier needs. Question is, who do we replace him with?

Great player, and a big reason you won a premiership so take nothing away from him.

However, something clearly isn’t right internally at the Dees, and there’s enough noise to suggest he’s a part of the problem.

It seems unlikely the window is still open so it’s time to start putting the right people around the youth (eg Petracca and Gawn) and maybe consider who might not be a good influence (Oliver, May?)

We don’t need to defend it mate, there were 17 other teams up there and 17 other teams that didn’t win it. We had a gun group and we got it done. The fact it’s raised as a question mark is due to sooks having a ****en sook.

Trust me I hated watching Liverpool wrap up the PL title in 2020, even though they'd established a massive lead when the world was pre-pandemic. Take out that section of the season and the feeling would've been even more hollow.

I'm not talking about validity in a sporting competition sense. Just the care factor and that competitions world wide through that era felt like something from outer space. You would have taken a '19 or '22 flag over the seasons in between any day of the week.

The fact that Melbourne have crumbled so badly since big games and crowds returned to the home of football, has reflected poorly on the squad's legacy. They proved they could only win a Perth pandemic cup. Fumbling and bumbling away so many games since at the G when the heat is really on.

I actually agree with you, I just know Goodwin will not have the clout to actually do anything. He might call it at year end anyway, we probably need to shift out a few now and go back to youth. It’s a sad story since 2021.
