Since the two clubs apparently don’t like dealing with each other, maybe this is the year we finally put on our big boy pants and actually use PSD pick 1 to get a player for free?
Here’s a F3 take it or leave it, otherwise we’ll PSD him and bid on Whan

Sheldrick and Erasmus value is hard to predict atm. Huge back half of the year coming up for both of them.

If they end up playing state league the value drops clearly to not much (Brockman). If they keep playing on this level their clubs will probably ask from something in the Peatling range but our F2 is more valuable then what the Crows would’ve projected to be.

An OOC Peatling + F3 + F4 for F2.

Swans need points this year and Freo unlikely to ask for picks this year as they will likely be swallowed up in the Whan bids. Cal only had him in the 2nd round calculations atm.

With Allen and Jameson likely off the books and then potentially both Gov and Barnett, we’re going to need KPP’s to come in. So whilst we all want mids mids mids especially with our top picks, come draft night, I reckon there’s going to be a bit more of a spread considering our NGA’s.

Prepare to melt.

Pick him up as a delisted free agent, I wouldn't offer the Lions anything

Exactly.

Dev is such old news at this point it'd be laughable for the Lions to ask for anyhing.

They'll delist him and MAYBE if other acquisitions fall through (Phillips, Erasmus, Sheldrick) we'll throw him a bone.

And if we don't, well so long Dev, you had 5 years of AFL.

We would just need 1 CHB. Cant melt re: Gov because its clear we need a CHB and he was to be it if injuries didnt get in the way so really its a like for like swap. Id be inclined to go experienced via Wade Derksen/Jacob Blight type

As far as Barnett goes he has provided absolutely zero since he came here. He is behind Livingstone anyway so he isnt really a replaceable thing. We could replace him with a springless pogo stick and be in the same spot so why replace him at all? Im happy to go with Livingstone as the 4th in line backup ruck for now

I'd offer Dev a rookie list spot, would be better than Rawlinson for what the Beagles need at the very least and we have more small forwards coming through in the NGA

Robertson turns 25 next season. If you use history as a guide the percentages say that whatever the best you have already seen of a player (maybe with the exception of ruckman) by the time they are that age is going to be the ceiling for that player for the rest of their career. There will be exceptions but they are exactly that (i.e. low probability exceptions). If we accept that what we have already seen of Robertson is the best he can muster is that worth giving up anything for or investing in? At least with the other players mentioned i think there is a bit more possibility or scope that we could add some value/see some improvement on what has already been shown.

Id offer him a rookie list spot but then come the rookie draft call him 5 minutes before and tell him we have changed our mind

Our current mids by age at end of 2025:

32- Yeo
31- Kelly
30- Hunt, Sheed
26- Graham
24- Hutchinson
23- Brockman
22- Hough, Chesser
21- Dewar, Hewett
20- Reid, Hall, Johnston
19- Allan, Davis, Gross, Grego

It’s an insanely young midfield group especially when you consider Yeo and Sheed haven’t played this year, Kelly has been phased out to HF and Graham is more pinch hitter than full time mid. Sheed, and perhaps Hunt, won’t be on the list next year

Assuming full availability our first choice midfield rotation for R1, 2026 might look something like Yeo, Reid, Hewett, Hough and Graham with Hutchinson and Dewar on the wings

That leaves Hall, Johnston, Allan, Davis, Gross, Grego and possibly Chesser if he survives the list cull waiting for their opportunity. We also likely have one, possibly two, top 5 draft picks adding to our midfield group from the draft

Robertson (24), Phillips (23), Erasmus and Sheldrick (both 22) are all still relatively young but will have all had 4+ years on an AFL list going into next year. Do any of that group become a first choice mid? If so, who are they replacing?

Their age/experience arguably puts them ahead of those next in line but they’d need to come in relatively cheap given they’re not best 22 locks. We’re also likely to need to delist someone like Chesser to create the list spot required

By all means bring one of them in but not if we have to pay anything higher than the Hawthorn R2 pick we hold. It’s why Robertson would probably be my preference given he’d likely only cost a token pick
I think Erasmus would be competing with Hall, Allan, Gross, Hutch in real term and maybe Chesser if he survives the cut, even so Chesser is more an outside mid so not really.
All of Hutch, Allan, Davis, Brockman, Dewar, Johnston are all outside mid/wings.
Hough either stays in the midfield or goes back to HB.
So apart from what we draft we are a bit light on for inside mids for a couple of years.
Kelly is basically a HF now with help in the midfield when needed.
I am also in agreeance that his price is probably an early 3rd and F4th, same price as Brockman OOC so similar value.

I don't get why this is - there are so so many times it works in both us and the Purple's best interests to help each other, even if it is hard to stomach for us as supporters either side.

They agree on a lot of things in an us vs East Coast mentality, I wonder why that is so ingrained from a business perspective?
The way the AvFL works against us in the west, and the croweaters, means we really should be working in conjunction with Freo to make WA footy, or non-Vic / Nepo Baby clubs, as strong as possible.

Both WA clubs at the top end of the table should be the aim.

From WCE Phil, did you forget people on here actually believe him, lol? He had to take over negotiations from Matt Clarke apparently.

WCE Phil never said that he took over negotiations, just that Clarke had to take a breather.

Same as what has been previously reported. Vic clubs believe he is stay for 2026 but he could still change his mind….

The outcome is likely the same though, isn't it?
He won't be a FA next year and we're odds on to have the bottom pick and could hypothetically retake him.
It seemed fanciful by the Vic Media he'd leave already. I personally think we'll get one contract extension out of him before he goes home.

Could be, depends how Harley and his manager play it.

He could do a Baker and make sure who he selects has the pick he and his previous club thinks he’s worth.

He could do a Bailey Smith as say he’s going to a club and let them scrap it out and have to take unders.

Depends how we negotiate when he nominates his club. Could roll over or could do a Cats with Kelly to us and keep going back for Monroe.

Sadly if he doesn’t leave this year and doesn’t even extend short term its because he wants to go to a club that doesn’t really have the assets to get a quick fair trade done (2025 Rich or Ess). Be ready to be screwed
