I still think we should open Owen but it is quite the intimidating middle order if top order get a good start.

Interesting how the West Indies problems in T20 cricket are the opposite of their Test team in that other than Akeal Hosein they can not find any bowlers.

They've won 2 of their last 19 T20s and save for a period just before the 2024 World Cup they've been a terrible T20 side basically since their 2016 World Cup win.

Feel we want that extra genuine middle order hitter and we don't have many of them before anyone says Stoinis the bloke is the ultimate tease. We do have a LOT of openers with Head due back as one too.

It is bizarro world having Maxwell open and Owen down the order to me. Owen has done well down there though. CA better not make the Hurricanes bat Owen down the order like they did Wade a few seasons back.

I like Owen in the middle order has the power and he bowls as well..its working ... I can't see him batting up the top for Aus

Domestically yes but his international t20 form has been fine ..very good opening bowling ..good economy rate and takes wickets and has played some handy innings

You would think a team who’s one strength throughout a series against Australia would go into a series against Pakistan retaining that strength at the top of the order and build on the regular really good starts that Brandon King and Shai Hope gave us.

Nope. We didn’t just sit King out of the series. We shifted Hope down the order and brought back, sigh, Johnson Charles, again, to open. With an untried 18 year old - who outshone him incidentally it must be said and at least looked ok. We also dropped Shimron Hetmeyer who smacked a rapid 50 in the last match against Australia. But retained Sherfaine Rutherford who barely looked like he could get the ball off the square.

So when we finally set up a gettable score, and even get to 0-50 pretty comfortably despite Charles batting like it was a test match, we inexplicably forget how to bat thereafter and hand Pakistan a win on a platter. How the hell can we beat anyone when a) half the players are no good anyway and b) the ones that are don’t even know when, if, or whereabouts they’re going to be playing?

I used to have a lot of time for him but I’ve got to say it: hey Sammy? F**k off mate.
