That said, it better not be one iota more than what we received in pretty similar circumstances

a second and third round pick that require trading and a couple of rookie spots.

that is what they should get this year.

Sonja needs to come out now and say that we are requesting the AFL extend our extra rookies for 2 more years. GC had theirs for far longer than us and had extra leg ups through their academy.

It’ll be equally as gutless as it is laughable if we don’t request for that assistance to continue.

And that we want 2 more spots on top of it

Gc had 4 extra spots

I don't know but I've lost patience for players that don't seem to be committed. If the best case scenario is we stick by him and end up with a winger with poor kicking in the side, I'm ready to take a gamble on someone else.
He’s had one bad year - I’d be having a chat to see if he wants to be still an AFL footballer

if we need to pay out any bloke its him with just 1 year to go on his contract

Doesn't need to come out and say it.
Just go and tell the AFL we are keeping them and these are the reasons why, she can let us know when it's done.

(B) George and Goater have contracts for next year don't they?
Agree with all that, no matter Goater's status he's a must keep and id like to see Bergman stay as well. He's had a couple of injury interrupted years but 189cm defenders who moves as well as he i think are worth keeping that little longer to be sure.

All three are young and been hampered by injury. All have a few years in the system, at worst they should all be fringe back flankers who we've spent a small fortune on in draft capital.

On the Lever news, we really need to have some spacial awareness and start respecting ourselves and they we handle our list.

To quote Vito Corleone here and relate it to why Melbourne is looking to offload him - “Why come to us? What have we done to deserve such generosity?”

And this applies here again without question.

If Lever was any good (even for 17th placed North) and was genuinely going to improve us, then there’d be a long line of clubs willing to take a look ffs.

This shit needs to stop

I'm in the move on from Bergman camp. Put him in the VFL team and if he comes good, pick him up as a MSD.
Much rather draft someone like Jett Dahlitz who uses the ball better or Finn Davis who gathers disposals and can run and carry and use the ball well in this year's draft.

Hey chubb if we didn't use this year's 1st who do you think we would have gone or who do you think we should have picked. This goes out to Scout and roosfanatic as well would be very interested on all your thoughts.

You just cant underestimate how hard it is to rebuild when you can’t attract very good players to your club to assist/fast track.

Thats why it was so effing crucial to show some good form towards the end of the season and unfortunately it’s been the complete opposite thus far.
If we had shown something, anything to finish off 2024 - we’d have been far more serious players in the Houston chase.

But as it stands, we were never ever considered a valid option.

It’s like a waiter standing out the front of a restaurant begging you to take a look at the menu and come inside and eat.

“Haha yeh thanks mate! We’ll take a look around and see how we go”
**** me

Same with this year. If we phone it in for the last 8 or so games - what can we possibly do to sell the club to anyone.

It’s so toxic

The drums will continue to beat louder as the wins don’t materialize
nah that bullsh1t....need to stay the course with Clarko. Club needs to block that crap out, that's media being media.....after 5 years he either stays on, or hands over with the job pretty much done to Simmo or Horse if available, the way Roos did for Horse and Goodwin. Need the old boy there to block out the outside negativity and stay the course. Just imagine the negativity for some poor assistant if no instant results. Been down that path with Shaw and Noble. It's just too much pressure for a rookie coach, and that pressure all generated by the media circus. And BTW, why aren't the media piling into Essendon and Scott, he's been there 3 years now. What about Ross Lyon, abandoned St Kilda after couldn't win a flag with an incredibly good list, rocked up to Freo after all the hard yards had been done, no flag, back to St Kilda and they're still nowhere. Block that crap out and stay the course.

I'd clear out Fisher, Scott, Corr and Logue, bring in Sam Frost from Hawthorn as defensive depth and give Payne, Banch and Trembath all another year.
Sam Frost is mightily error prone while not being at North. Can you imagine just how excruciatingly shit he'd be in North colours? Wouldn't touch him with a three metre pole

If we didn't trade this years R1, for me it would have been out of key forward Aidan Schubert or wing/hbf Josh Lindsay.
I think they would both add something to our team. I'd probably lean towards the key forward.
But I do have a soft spot for Josh being a BFNAAK and his composure and ball use would have been great to have.

I personally don't see the need for ruck/fwd Cooper Duff-Tytler when we took Goad. He may go 1 or 2 to WCE anyway.

We've got enough high end mids with LDU/Wardlaw/FOS/Colby/Powell/Phillips for now.
I think we need more the hard running two way mids rather than just adding another high end midfielder like Dyson Sharp (he may go at 1 or 2 to WCE over Cooper), Ollie Greeves or Sam Cumming etc.

Willem Duursma as a versatile utility is an interesting one. Highly like we goes 1 or 2 to WCE.
He was impressive, but can certainly see him turning the ball over with some of the kicks he bites off at AFL level.
