Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

The right move. He wasn’t tactically adept enough, but he still deserved better than this playing group.
Meh. Maybe. He moulded the playing group and could've ejected any of them at any time to prove points, set standards or wtvr. Same with the reviews cook conducted yearly with no change except the Russell one last year. Voss could've made noise and forced the issue.

Playing group not being excused either. Ofc. Just not giving Voss an excuse.

If the rumour of Cripps wanting to be traded at 31 years of age and passed his peak is true, it could be progressive if we received multiple top 10 picks. However, it would be likely we finish bottom 4 next year, with one of the worst midfields in the league

I guess that means we have someone lined up?
We wouldn’t be turfing him otherwise or are we REALLY that dumb?! 😂

Depends on the pool of candidates.

Longmire, Simpson, Hinkley - there are a few experienced heads there if we want to go that route - certainly better options than last time we pigeonholed ourselves into a "coach without training wheels".

But it could also be that we've been talking to assistant coaches (may even have ostensibly been re: assistant coaching positions) and have determined that there are some really strong candidates available to run through an interview process.

In terms of timing - it might just be a good year to do it, with no other clubs seemingly in the market for a new coach.

Nicks, Macrae, Fagan, Scott, Longmuir, Hardwick, Mitchell, Kingsley, Bevo all seemingly locked in.
Carr already set to take over from Hinkley.
Cox, Yze and McQualter all new to their roles and unlikely be to unceremoniously turfed.
Lyon doing what he does best and getting his greasy tentacles firmly burrowed into St Kilda so it'll take a monumental effort for them to dislodge him again.

So besides us - it comes down to whether Melbourne pull the pin on Goodwin, Essendon punt Scott, or North somehow decide they think they can do better than Clarko. None of those sides represent an obviously more attractive proposition than we do, and conservatively I reckon the only one who will actually get sacked is Goodwin, and that's probably a 50/50 prospect at the moment.

Long story short...might just be the year to move on Voss where we'll pretty much have our pick of the market for a replacement if nobody else is hiring.

I’m not conflating but I get your point.
Rumours are welcome, in fact I very much enjoy them and the discussions they make, in saying that I think we are entitled to be sceptical.
As for this particular rumour I don’t believe it for a moment, but if something was to transpire it could still end positively.
What I was really taking umbrage with was the “itk” telling us to prepare for a very mediocre return.
That crosses over from being a rumour to pure fantasy because even if crippa had decided to return home the deal would not have even started to be thrashed out.
Agreed, but I felt like the 'prepare for a mediocre return' part was purely opinion and not part of the rumour. Of course nothing would be spoken about yet in terms of value.

Not against Cripps leaving (assuming he actually wants to), I think it's fair to say we've seen his best.

I seriously doubt we're getting a top 10 pick though. How many 31 year olds have ever had that price?

if Cripps wants out, which will destroy the club imo, then I would offer two 1sts and Cripps for Reid and 2nd rd
Not just no, but **** no. We shouldn't be that deal... ever! That's worse than the Judd trade really. We gave them a generational talent (taken with pick 4 BTW), pick 3 and pick 20. We give up our captain, 2 first round picks for Reid, a mouthy kid who is FIGJAM, and a second round pick.

Not even the AFL would approve that deal.

Voss will go. Won't be the coach in 2026.
I just don't see how it goes any other way.
Do I want ANOTHER new coach? No.
Is Voss part of the problem? It appears so from the outside.
Is Voss the ONLY problem? It appears not from the outside.
I believe Voss could be a premiership coach with the right people around him (players, assistants, head office), but he doesn't have those people and if kept on, possibly never will.

Yes we’re at our lowest point but our list/footy department/coaches need a re fresh. It might be exactly what we need cause this team ain’t winning anything. So we lose a few go back but it might energise the group that WANT to stay.Whoever dosent can you know what.

You might be right.
It's called a canary trap. Release the same information with a slightly different bit of information in each one. If you want to find the people leaking information, that's how you do it.

Yep - and poo-pooing it because "Cripps is rich and can hire a nanny" is narrow-minded and naive to the complexities of a situation where you're separated from your family by the width of a large country.
You're bang on.

I have a kid same age, live near the Cripps' and have bumped into 'em a few times and chatted parenthood.
I 100% got the feeling that they miss family and am not surprised at all that they're considering a move back.

Sure Cripps' is a millionaire, but he would work like a dog, and while we spoke - he talked to footy as 'work'. Perspectives change when you have kids...

If Voss rumour is true i really hope we dont end up with Simpson.

I know he won a GF but last few years they've been really bad and Simpson would have to be part of the problem ...playing the older guys.
Would only get behind that if he mentored someone to take over in a couple of years. Even then, I don't love the idea.
