Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

So I feel like I should comment on the Cripps thing.

It's far from a certainly, he has said he is happy to go home if we go full rebuild and start again.

No jack and no HOF next year, backline will be super thin.
Weitering, Haynes, Dean with Newman and Cowan as the hybrids. Lewis Young and a FA or cheap pick up as the depth. That's not terribly thin. Still plenty of talent there

I'd like to think we can find a mature ager using a SSP pick that can cover second-year developing KPD like Harry. They won't have a growth ceiling like Harry but should have a bigger and more developed body to not be pushed around

Thanks for the update - I hope the club commits to a rebuild.

We can’t build a flag side with Cripps being the main mid and he doesn’t have the positional flexibility to play elsewhere

Mirrors Fyfe at Freo tbh, only difference is Cripps is more durable.

Tried to get him a premiership but just didn't get there and is no longer the main man. As you say Crippa should not be captain or the main man going forward should he stay.

Kemps was playing CHB when we were 2nd on the ladder last year
Very true. I think there are ways to cover. I don't wish any injury to anyone, but if we were going to have an ACL to a key defender, would rather it now than in January

Kemp as well

Not so sure. It will be bumpy but I’m easily more excited for next year than I was for this year.

Aside from a reset of the footy dept, we will see:

  • Newman back (will make a huge difference to on-field standards)
  • Jagga
  • Harry Dean
  • Continual growth of current crop of kids (Cowan, Carroll, Lord, Young, Moir, Wilson, Campos)
  • Important role players back (Kemp, Cottrell, a bonus if Elijah?)
  • Whatever we get for TDK compo should he go
  • Senior players refreshed and (knocks wood) fit - Walsh, Cerra, Harry, Charlie, Weiters

Not saying Flaggers ‘26, but there is more blue sky ahead (pun intended) than many can see right now.
I think no chance of finals in 26' and unlikely 27'. If we do everything right 7th 8th in 28' and build from there.

This corroborates treesloth’s post

Think some posters owe treesloth an apology, he’s just passing on what he heard and got unfairly attacked, wasn’t just disagreeing with what he said.

If the club does go full rebuild. It sounds like Cripps is willing to help the club out and get the best deal the club can get. If he’s not fussed what WA team he ends up at

Everyone so keen. To trade out our better players, same ones who wanted Russell sacked how is that working out.Trade them and just maybe after 3years the ones they recruited actually might make it,but this iss doubtful they will want them traded out along with the recruiting staff

Folks, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I’ve got another unfortunate #Bluemour to share.

This comes from the same source who correctly flagged a few weeks back that Charlie was open to a move — and that info turned out to be spot on (regardless of his post match comments about wanting to stay - Ala Houston etc).

I can now confirm two things:
  • SOS is definitely gone, and
  • Cripps also wants out. He’s looking to finish his career in WA and doesn’t seem fussed about which club takes him — though West Coast looks like the obvious frontrunner.
Personally think he’s earned the right to go with our blessing at this point.

Given the source’s track record and recent form, I’m confident this Cripps part is legit. Expect it to go public in the coming weeks.

Far from it KnobHead:-

'Cripps wants out'
is nothing like 'It's far from a certainty'

I guess we become a smarter IQ list, no more reliance on TDK, Cripps, Walsh, Charlie to do all the work, may actually start looking at making better decisions on field. Farewell to JSOS, Acres (if rumours true), Fantasia and a few others (McGov may net us a late 2nd rounder or future).

I think having seniors such as Hewett, Newman, Haynes (and a switched on Weits) is a good foundation leadership team to get around for 2026. Maybe the air will clear in this new era. Harry thrived when he was the main man, he'll have Kemp and Moir.

Hewett, Cerra, Lord, Jagga is a start for a midfield, even look at re-aligning Durds as a Darren Hulme-esque midfielder (he was a mid as a junior was he not), and finding another mature mid and recruit some more (poke around at some of the uncontracted players).

We'll be a middling team for a while till we sort out our coaching and skills and get these young kids up to par. We're going to need a coach great at development and if lucky like Hawks we can propel into finals again in 28.

But then again, we are Carlton.

Durds struggles to find the ball at the best of times. I am not sure why people think he can be a mid given his height

Imo we don’t need to and shouldn’t be going down the rebuild path. A couple departures and key is, is to what(hopefully) we can get back into the club. Just gotta try and calm the whole thing down. Be measured and calculated, try and nail what we need to bring in to fill needs and we should/can be still contenders next year.
And the injury gods play ball
