Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Hopefully we can have Goodwin signed up by the end of the week
Tell your story walking, GB 🤣

I like/love reactions on all ITK rumour posts I come across. To show me gratitude for them sharing info, even if it is conflicting.

In fairness, I get excited by all of it. Maybe not lately though lol.

Whom-ever we 'get on' it better be quick, Dees are probably going to get in before us!
Maybe Simmo has already been given the unofficial nod and that's why he's sold up in WA...
I reckon if it’s a senior coach in-demand, then their offers from Carlton and Melbourne wouldn’t be split by the sacking of a coach 3 weeks early - they’d know their club of choice.

I’m still quietly confident Melbourne have almost panic-sakced (sic) as they know we’ve already lined up our ducks in a row (if this new See-E-Oh is as flash as they say).

We will more than likely sack Voss.

We need to prove ourselves to coaches of the league, we need to be on our best behavior.

What we do and how we go about it will be in a way that is the most respectful to Michael Voss.

There is no value sacking him before the season ends and doing the wrong thing by Voss for us in the long run. Let Melbourne make this mistake. We will let him coach out the season, we will let him go with dignaty and will will appoint our new coach soon after, this is what I believe we will do.

I think we will do it right and hire someone good. We need to keep the better players of our list together, get a new coach in and recruit well.

Sort out the list direction and game plan issues and start to turn things around.

Spot on.

Opposite of Melbourne, hopefully.

Fancy having to tell the media you have the full support of the board, going out and getting a win (I don't care against who) and getting sacked less than 72 hours later

What message does that send?

There was a good article by Jake Niall in the Age yesterday. It compared Carlton and Melbourne and discussed how Carlton had put itself in a much better position to make a decision on its coach (mainly by having Wright in place early and by virtue of having our President and CEO roles settled).

My view is that Melbourne are indeed behind us in a coach search. They don’t even have the off field personnel in place to undertake their recruitment process.

Yeah that’s my take on it too. They do have a new CEO starting soon tho but the president currently is a “caretaker”. Makes it a shade harder for them

Jon Ralph on midweek tackle tonight, talking about Longmire said he isn’t sure horse would be as attracted to the job due to those reasons off field. He said Blues would be more attractive for potential coaches than the dees.

I'd be sussing out Longmires drive and hunger before going all in on him tbh. Is he refreshed after some time off ala Hardwick?

Personally I don't think it'd be an issue, I think he'll have some drive and want to correct his grand final record to a degree. But, has the losses - and most pertinently the last loss - taken it out of him a bit? It could well have.

I want to go for a next gen coach. A tried and tested assistant please. Just remembering that Bolton and Teague previously weren't exactly considered the next cabs off the rank. Bolton interviewed well, and Teague had a half season audition.

Do you want a senior mentor to go with the appointment, ODN? Or are you happy to let them stand on their own feet?

A tried and tested assistant like who?

Some would argue Hansen is tried and tested. Not sure we’d want him to continue though.

Tdk is confirmed as gone. Fact.
Jack yet to decide - resents Carlton for not entering contract talks earlier - only came to the table when Collingwood came sniffing - his decision could go either way
This is exactly what I heard as well. Disappointing on our behalf, but I still feel he is a chance to stay.

Premiership coach with experience just became available.

Cmon down Goody!!

I always felt Goodwin was a complete disastercase coach who happened to have a few really good years.

Rather than a great premiership winning coach who had a couple of bad years.

Not sure if that's fair.

Not trying to claim it is wrong but with regards to the JSOS rumour it was reported that we have had our contract offer on the table for 6-8 weeks at similar terms to Pies. So seems like he was one of the first out of our uncontracted players to receive a contract offer
Yep, players can’t blame the club, given the TDK decision has a massive bearing on available salary cap.

There was no way he was getting delisted, so it made the most sense to wait as he proved himself as a gun defender and waited to see what TDK did. Seems like something lost in translation with that rumour.
