Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

He took on a basket case and turned them around. I think they went from wooden spoon to second on the ladder in his first 3 seasons
Super duper importantly too. He managed the list amazingly.

They went from consistently Carlton like injury lists to consistently the opposite and a lot rests on the way players are rotated, managed and the training expectations etc.

At similar times neutrals etc were rating the list similar to Carlton's rebuilding list. With it changing which the consensus preferred.

So what happened? One had a real manager and aware head coach. A real be good at everything and delegate the minutia and expertise to the narrow spectrum roles. Whereas the other has a head coach who knows 4 things about footy and they're all 'contest'. So our list never handled the injury prone types. Which I bet other clubs would've, at least some of them, and you'd not have this massive hole in the list resulting in a coach change.

Oh and Fagan was allowed to request and bring in culture changing players on Hodge and Gunston

I'm more concerned about how long it has taken to recognise and add to areas we are deficient. We have not tried to add pace with any urgency, especially in our midfield.

Of course the big issue is paying too much to too few. We are top-heavy and haven't risked losing our top players in order to keep the list balanced.
Give Voss someone fast and he'd play them as a pure tagged, back pocket or 'burst stoppage mid' ala Dow - who he never ever figured out how to use anyway. Even when he had his mini 'hot streak' for us end of '23

Not convinced we don't have pace and don't know how much we need to add. Fully convinced it wouldn't have changed much this year.

Lol copped a few sprays during your school days hey?
Indeed I did. Parko was with Burwood Teachers College in the mid-80s and my primary school in Forest Hill was so small we didn't have a P.E. Teacher. Parko rocked up each week to take us for P.E. with his student teachers in tow. I think he liked demonstrating what discipline looked like :)

He was such a legend that he offered to fill in as the school footy coach when our principal (the normal footy coach) was undergoing chemo. It was pretty awesome to rock up at footy comps with a premiership coach on the school bus.

If you saw that vein pulsating you knew were in trouble.

Would have been awesome if you were a footy nut.

Hey young fella🥸 EGO IS NOT A DIRTY WORD!

Mind you they are spring chickens compared to me. Prefer honest ego to false humility any day if the week😉
I meant the level above ego! Voss has had something to do with a few people I know in industry and out. Voss likes Voss has been the usual summary, just probably not as overt as Figjam And Hird.... Hah.

Honest ego is always preferable. I'd call that just self confidence. Which we need. I loathe false modesty and 'learnings'

Thanks goreds knew someone would oblige.
Fun fact. Skyhooks are how i got my handle. My ex, long time gf at the time, at about 20 y/o asked me who the band was playing and I said skyhooks and she said never heard of skyhorse and being drunk and with witnesses many jokes were made

Was McQualter selected over Skipworth? And if so, what does that say?
If Skipworth came second it can mean he's the best now available (of those in consideration for that job)

It can also mean McQualter more aligned with the specific criteria wce were looking for at the time, just as Voss aligned for us more so than Kingsley did for what we wanted at the time we were looking.

McQualter, who made his AFL debut against West Coast in 2005, was among a final group of three contenders that included Collingwood assistant Hayden Skipworth and Geelong midfield coach Steven King
As I said, not my recollection, but in fairness, as per other recent posts, I am quite old and…
