Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

The wording of the email is definitely... Interesting.

Seems like they are going for the public image of stability, but giving themselves an out if they suddenly decide they need to turf Vossy.

Giving themselves an out should mean they walk out of the club with their heads hung in shame for the incorrect decisions made

So, just to confirm. How has Dow performed under all his other coaches? Did they turn him into a pacy player that is blitzing the competition? Or even just playing regular AFL football? Has Lyon got him burning up the field?
Just maybe, the bloke cant kick to save himself and not just his coaches have realised it, but he has as well. Nah, must be Vossy's fault.
As for these other pacy players we're hiding in the background, who are they?
Dow developed a serious infection in his knee after suffering severe bone bruising. He had 3 operations to clean the infection up and only became available to train at the end of June. He played the last 10 games of last year and was looking good.

I'm curious about the balance with replacing the assistants for Voss.

Did he suggest they weren't up to scratch? If so, are they not doing a good enough job of teaching what he's after? After 4 seasons, if that's still the case, it falls on Voss anyway as far as I'm concerned.

To me it now feels like if we succeed next season, Voss is just a figurehead and it's the assistants that do the heavy lifting.

It's a difficult one to take for me. I've been dejected most of the season and this has just sent me into another level of that.

I agree. Wording only says he will remain our senior coach “into” 2026. Wouldn’t provide much comfort to me if I was Voss.
Realistically they're not going to sack him halfway through the season though. Unless there's a Horse etc that doesn't get snapped up, no assistant is going to leave mid year to come join us.

Think it's just poorly worded rather than deliberately ambiguous.

Couldn't hold his spot in the one paced Saints midfield last year. If he did OK, why was he dropped?
He's played the past 6 weeks in the VFL for the 14th placed team.I'm not here to knock the bloke, he's achieved more than 99% of us in footy. But for some to suggest he was somehow mismanaged by Voss and therefore couldn't show this potential is nonsense IMO.
Dow's building form for the Zebra's, averaging almost 10 clearances per game over the past 3.

I think it's deliberate. He's the coach up to and come Round 1. After that, performance and wins dictate.
