Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

My race horse was gelded, ruined his career, sh@#s himself in traffic and the trainer won't put blinkers on!!!!!!
serves you right for being a horsey - get yourself a motorbike - more fun and smarter than any horse ever - have hated them more than cows all my farming days.

Another untruth.
Dow was dropped and played Rounds 17 and 18 in the VFL. He returned to the side and was dropped again (Round 22) but got a reprieve when Phillipou was ill. So he played the last 4.
As I said, the story gets distorted when the facts are misrepresented.
What I saw was he played the last 10 games of the season. Obviously the person who wrote the article on Dow got it wrong. He played 10 games last year. And I really hate it when people make mistakes. He was the sub in round 22.

It appears that he played round 17, and missed rounds 18-21.

Now that Voss is supposedly safe, how does Austin keep his job?

How do we get to the point where we say our issues aren’t our coach and then sent our list boss.

If the salary cap is a mess and we have little trade capital, forcing us to constantly trade solid depth, how does that guy survive once the coach is backed?

Think GW is being very strategic

Happy to let the “tail waggers” present themselves and exit them accordingly

Re-set the standards and club culture

Bring some fresh ideas (assistants) and a new head of football to set up the footy department

Use the picks from exited players according to bring in some new talent

Once all this is in place then we can make a final call on his coaching

Voss is being backed as a 20-1 to keep his job for all of 2026. Perform or go is SOP for a new CEO with no ready made replacements he can back. Regime change was never going to be "everyone out" - impossible logistics.

I’ve worked it out what GW master plan is -

🚨 BOMBSHELL MEGA TRADE 🚨

Hinkley to the Blues to bolster the football department and help Vossy.

Butters to follow suit to reunite with Kenny and requests a trade to Carlton.

Walshy traded to Hawthorn for our original first round pick.

Harry traded to the Swans for their first pick.

Wanganeen Milera requests trade to PAFC.

Butters to Carlton for 2 x 10 picks (One via hawks and one via the Swans)

Leaves us with the TDK compo pick to use in the draft to select Josh Lindsay.

PAFC on trade those 2 top 10 picks to St.Kilda for Wanganeen Milera.

We walk away with Butters, Lindsay as well as Dean and Ison.

Easy peasy, everyone is happy!! Thank me later guys 😎😉😂
That is a very good trade deal. It's too sensible though.

So if Voss does see out his contract and we lose a bunch of players this off season due to that are we to assume the board/Wright think we need to undertake a rebuild?

Surely if the players have made it known that they want out if Vossy remains the club would look at making a change to the senior coach?
If the players take a stance like that, virtually giving the Club an ultimatum, show them the door straight away. We will never get anywhere as long as the players believe they are in charge. The Club's more important than any individual player.

Very good. Reckon we could get more from hawks and swans to add to other missing parts or a pick to nab Mitch marsh too

I imagine this year has been a bit of a shit-show for Voss.

The Wright-lead review has ultimately saved him but also been his downfall in 2025.

Bunch of assistants who know they're gone.
That lack of motivation trickling down to the players.

Not sure how you motivate an un-motivated group of men.
He'd be literally the only one still trying to squeeze some success out of the year.

They've now backed him in.
He can reload and go again, with some support around him.

I don't think Voss has had the right assistants from beginning in all honestly.
Goes right back to Ratten. We’ve never actually supported our coaches. Great move by the club today in my opinion. Puts ALL the heat back on the players and footy dept. GW calling bluffs. Not drinking the Kool aid but it’s nice to see someone stand up.

I am sure someone will correct me. But I’ve always understood the player culture under Hinkley at Port Adelaide has been good? As in, they would run through brick walls for Ken.

If that’s the case, a Hinkley appointment probably suggested player culture is going to be a big focus.

My perception which seems to be shared is that he’s a pretty good “look at me im an Everyman” people person and somewhere between below average to absolute dogshit tactically. The latter no doubt also exacerbated by his stubbornness.

Was at his best when he had older experienced tactically astute assistants around him. Unfortunately for a while has had younger greener yes men around him.

My advice for any teams looking at him is if you’re a basket case and prepared to surround him with strong willed assistants go for it.

Very likely to turn things around for you.

If no to either of those things take a gamble on a new coach imo.

What are the odds that we lose the first 9 or 10 games next year, have a mid year camp out. Finish with a flurry, then extend his contract for another 2 years?
