Autopsy Round 22 = Hawthorn 110-46 Collingwood

Collingwood - 3 games in 11 days including Brisbane and Hawthorn.
Geelong- 3 games in 21 days against bottom 3 sides then a 5 day break into Essendon.

AFL fixed the draw helping them. It's a rort and Geelong rorting the system. Easiest ride to the flag for them with a first final at home vs Gold Coast and a prelim vs Brisbane. When will the AFL step in?
They’ve also got 4 guardian angels in fluoro green that will be there by their side come September

I did.

I said to to Domus he had a short memory ie we beat Hawks 10 ago -
You then offer the 2O year record as a justification for his view.

It’s a BS narrative hence my post.

If you want to talk players who go to water against the Hawks

Pendles 9 - 20
Sidey 7 - 16
Crisp 5 - 9
Bruz 4 - 9
Elliot 4 - 11
JDG 3 - 8
Howe 4 - 11

Not this BS again.
Tell me which players, played in every one of those games in the last 20 years and need to be dropped before the next game?
It’s the only way to stop the rot.
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
S Pendlebury.

Glad I could help

I agree. We’ve been given the draw from hell by the AFL.Lions,Hawthorn and then Adelaide in Adelaide. And worst of all a five day break between the Lions and Hawthorn games. No other finals team has had a draw as punishing as that.If we’d had Geelong’s soft draw we probably would still be sitting on top of the ladder and thinking we were a real chance of winning the flag. But in reality that probably would have been papering over the cracks and we would have been exposed in the finals anyway.

This is why when we had the bye if you were to circle the 2 most important wins to set ourselves up it would be the gold coast and Freo games and we just didn't take it seriously enough by resting players.

Those 2 games + Richmond + Melbourne get us to 18 wins without even beating Adelaide Hawthorn or Brisbane.

What were we resting for exactly?

I think you’ve made the case for Geel being exposed in finals, given they have been ordinary all year.

Could have won both Freo and GCS games - given the combined loss of 7 points. Not sure resting had anything to do with it. If we’d been flogged then you’d have a point.

I think Collingwood fan at the G last night was shocked when this happened. The eerily still silence for the next 5 minutes was something I have not experienced for some time.

But what was even more shocking was the tepid response from Collingwood. This flog wasnt even challenged when he came back on. We allowed this incident to set the tone for the rest of the night.

Weak as Pi$$ Collingwood.

So god dammed angry this morning

I was shocked we barely did anything after Josh was almost spear-tackled, especially after the Howe incident. Wish Heater, Dids, Taz and Swanny were here.

You've got it the wrong way around. IF we were flogged then 1 or 2 players resting make no difference. But a close game, small percentages make all the difference. Pendles plays the full GC game we probably win.

Why are you so disingenuous? That game was an extreme outlier. Just under Fly's tenure we have copped three humiliating losses and that is while our team has been contending for a flag. We had one in our premiership year when Nick broke his leg and they ran us ragged. They weren't even finalists that year. Then last year in the rain we were humiliated by having Ginnivan get 30 touches and 2 or 3 goals. He literally taunted the cheer squad. Then last night was another debacle. When we lose to Hawthorn it's never just a loss. It's a two-hour bullying session where we get out run and physically intimidated- and the scoreboard tells the ugly tale each time.

Their crowd doesn't cheer when they play us- they jeer.

When you've watched this on repeat for nigh on five decades it wears a bit thin.
Disingenuous is the BS narrative you persist with, that some how the last 20 years impacts today’s performances.

That’s just fanciful - as I’ve said let’s drop all those who’ve played in every one of those games in the last 20 years, to stop the rot.

You are not serious. The past four years under Fly is more than enough to make my point. Our three worst defeats have all been at the hands of Hawthorn and all in humiliating circumstances. You are a part of the mob who continue to either remain ignorant about our embarrassing inability to compete against the Hawthorn Football Club or simply choose to ignore it.

The problem is a current one involving all of our current players. It is also a historic one going back five decades. What part of these two equally disturbing facts do you not understand?

If we got flogged everyone would have blamed it on “resting”.
It’s exactly because we got so close that “resting” was an arguable cause, rather than definitive.

Like I said the decades long narrative is BS.
No sensible or logical person could think otherwise.

Please just think!!!!!
What has a 5 decade record got to do with the current squad. WTF can McCrae do about a record he can’t control!!!
If this was a genuine issue then action could be taken to fix it, but it cannot.

Therefore this is a fanciful narrative, based more on your historical trauma than reality.
And completely irrelevant to the future of the Club.

What are you taking?

If a club's history against another club is irrelevant why do fans of the Carlton and Collingwood football clubs slavishly follow the historical tally which now sees us pushing out a nice lead after a period when we trailed. Eddie McGuire is one such avid supporter who constantly references this win loss battle. It matters. Why bother playing in a competitive competition if win/loss records don't matter?

We lead 135 to 129 with 4 draws.

That aside- if you are not in any way bothered by the terrible record our club has in the past 50 years against Hawthorn, that is your prerogative- but I have now clearly articulated how bad our record against Hawthorn under Fly is right here and now, and for some strange, incomprehensible reason you pretend I have said our record over the past five decades is the reason for our recent losses.

The Crows fans are acutely aware of the hold we have had over their club for quite some time albeit with victories which are far less humiliating, we have kept finding a way to pip them in tight contests. Tell them that is of no consequence. I often go on their board when we are going to play them and I see endless references to our win loss advantage over them.

I am sure I will see more of the same in the lead up to our game next Saturday.

How can you pretend a club's history is of no consequence to fans? Perhaps we should scrap premiership tallies as they tend to delve back into the distant past.

Maybe you could tell Pies' fans who still feel heartbroken over the countless grand final losses they have witnessed, often in heartbreaking circumstances over the past 6 or 7 decades to stop living in the past or those losses are irrelevant to our club because they were a while ago now.

The decades long hold the Hawks have over our club is very relevant to those who have endured it and are tired of it. Two total strangers who chatted with me on the walk out of the G both brought up that record before I did and we expressed our disbelief at how long this problem has endured.
