I’m going to the pound tomorrow to get a rescue dog and call him Frankie,

They’ll have a lot in common.
Frank has been building form for 6 or 7 weeks, unlucky not to snare a bag of goals at VFL level prior to finally getting a block of AFL games.

Please - just for once, can we win a game we're 30+ pts down, rather than getting close and shitting the bed?

We didn't shit the bed. When you are committing to every contest, a ball has to get through now and then.

Great effort. Suns are a genuine top 4 team and in great form. We were missing a dozen first team players and had a super young team with 9 players aged 21 and under, and three other 23 year olds who havent cemented their spots by any means (Evans, Young, Durdin).

3 of our top 5 ranked players were Lord, Hollands and Cowan. All were exceptional. Lord 24 touches and 12 and played a huge part in keeping Anderson to just 19 disposals.

Very well coached too, imo. We started the game with a clear plan, GC adjusted and looked completely and we had to keep changing things up with very few cards in the deck. Went full Richmond chaos ball at the end and it worked.

Not really much to dislike other than Fogarty's goalkicking and some awful umpiring. I understand you don't get the best umpires for Carlton Vs GC but it was incredibly poor.

I'm not as bouyant as some.

Outside of Frank there wasn't a lot of credible football in that comeback. It was chaos ball against a team that was aleady on the bus mentally.

Same old issues...no strategy moving the ball, too direct, contest heavy, predictable, really poor by foot and hand.

Not a lot to like outside of Frank.

We know our weaknesses, so….
You deserve that game Frank, worked your arse off this year, got smashed, crumpled. Shook it off and played out of your skin tonight. Kudos.
Cooper Lord, yep, I like you.
Harry battled hard without much help.
Our two key backs…..just wow. Ones not up to it, never has been. The other is just a shell. Half the footballer he should be
You’re not going to win too many with Young, Durdin, Fogarty, White, Evans & Motlop as your fleet of smalls.
Need some explosiveness in the middle desperately.
Take the shackles off over the next couple of weeks
Let them try to enjoy the last 240 minutes of what has been a wretched season….

Cooper Lord is an inside mid and a run with player. If Walsh plays next week, play him on the wing. If Cerra comes back, he can swap out with Crippa (who should play forward more and more). Do not put Lord on a wing. Do not play him as sub.

Also, credit where credit is due, Austin nailed the Cooper Lord pick. And I think he got the Flynn Young pick right as well (just needs a preseason). Also, he seems to have nailed the Frank the Tank pick. So, well done Austin?

Bizarre game.

Some awful stuff structurally and effort wise early in the game.

Not sure what happened in the fourth.

Evans has shown something the last two weeks.

Same with Lord.

I’m sorry but we won’t be winning many games going forward with Hollands as our leading ball getter with how bad some of his ball use is. It’s bad enough with Hewett and Cripps in the middle.

Well deserved. Many had wrote him off, me included. But from the moment he got knocked out, something clicked.
He was in okay form before he got poleaxed but yes I agree has returned in unbelievable form

You would think he’s almost a different player than the one we saw in the early rounds

Lord, Hewett and Cripps; might be best of just using one.

Fun last quarter. Wish they played like that for four quarters.

Sign Frankie up. Was already playing well before May knocked him out. Has been even better coming back.

Seriously good game from Cooper Lord as well.

If Ollie could kick…
Which likely means Voss will make him sub next week.

At the risk of highlighting one player, Fogerty must go. Those two easy shots missed just make it so much harder. Not where near good enough.
It was a problem in 2023 too but we were just much more dangerous going forward. So glaringly bad with how much we struggle to get scoring chances.

Surely we aren’t celebrating this loss
No. But I can't be stuffed pointing to the many negatives. And Frankie was great.

Tonight's last quarter doesn't paper over a single thing. We've been rubbish for most of the year. But for the first time in a couple of months, it was fun watching them.

Good to see some fight from a very undermanned team but the way we are currently playing is not sustainable regardless of personnel. It NEEDS to be overhauled in the off-season. More emphasis on spread. More emphasis on skills. Suns got the ball to the outside any chance they could get and they beat us every time.

The positives. Lord with a great performance. Really going to be difficult to shift him out of that midfield but the balance in there needs to improve. Still too slow and contested. Evans and Harry from the senior boys stood out the most. I've been a doubter but last two weeks from Evans have been seriously impressive. Good to see the young players continue to get games. Cowan some nice rebound off HB. HOK presented well. Carroll and Moir continue to show signs. Finishing let's him down but Hollands continues to work like a dog - needs more from others around him.

Lastly, I hope those four umpires wake up to spoilt milk in their fridges. About as one-sided an umpiring performance you will ever see.

Frankie was sensational, showed what he really has got. Lord, a mighty effort, touched up Anderson and won his own ball.

Young should never be in our back-line again, up forward when required perhaps.

Fog, you are done.

H, you tried your guts out, kudos. Motts poor for the first three quarters, then played well in the last. Is he a tease, or will he come on next

season? Effort from boys was certainly their, good to see.
