That is very harsh on Frankie. Looked to me like, he really was not expecting another opportunity at the highest level. Early on, he was playing

with new team mates, new game plan and not enough miles in his legs. Played some good footy in the magoos, earned his spot back in the

seniors. Now paying us back for the faith we placed in him. Last night is no flash in the pan, Frankie has a big heart and footy smarts.

Has now elevated himself to easily be our best small forward. Make no mistake, last night was no fluke.

Agreed.

While it was one game if he can make it a habit he will be a worthwhile punt. Is better playing up the ground a bit and has an absolute dart of a kick that hits targets low and fast.

Also puts his body on the line so will gain others trust to fight hard.

As I said early days but worth persisting with and if spots are tight would have him in before Durdin, Motlop and Fog.

um, the opposition got bored...
could be a bit of that but you could tell our pressure spooked em and they struggled to regain momentum until very late in the final Q with a couple of late goals.

But things could have been different if fog kicked those 2 easy set shots.

Who was our last cult hero?

What constitutes a cult hero?
Do they have to be a role player or battler?

Just asking because in my time going to games, there have been 2 that made the crowd chant and scream more than any other.

Kouta!!!!! Kouta!!!! Kouta!!!!
Deafening chants.

Then there was one Eddie Betts.
Goosebumps hearing:
Eddie!!! Eddie!!! Eddie!!!!

The umps got the message and made sure GC would win. Fog's misses just made it easier for them.

Or maybe the player who gets knocked out and then kicks a bag of at least 4 goals in the one of the first 2 games back from concussion protocols?
Sure. That'll catch on.

Unfortunately, I missed the game live due to celebrating my missus and I anniversary (7 years, who'd have thought anyone could put up with me that long?)

Really good to see some really top efforts from unusual suspects.

Great going Frank. Another strong performance to finish the year and he'll have earned a fresh one-year contract. Those are words I didn't think I'd be writing on this forum but here we are.

Till the next - I love this club and I love you all.

Such a shame we never saw Eddie's peak

Seemed obvious to me early on in the year that he's clearly the type that tears up match sim, I remember Selwood saying Frankie had a big bag of tricks. Will be a massive win for us if he can consistently deliver in the real thing.

Eddie certainly in his first year seemed to get a cult following but he and Kouta ended up genuine A graders. I think you lose the cult status once you reach a certain level.

Cult hero’s are normally (imo of course) a a level or three below.

Quirky battlers with something that endears them to the supporter base or someone who comes from no expectations.

Voss at Freo is probably a good example although he’s also turning into a bloody good player as well.

Who's to say the last quarter isn't the real plan and it took the players three quarters to get it going?
Looking at the VFL for the first 3 quarters, our last quarter yesterday was how we played the first 3 today.

It’s coming :D

Just watching the replay of the last quarter.

We have to just keep playing Moir. He may never be a big possession winner but gee he has some tricks. There is almost a bit of Cyril about him the way he pounces on the ball and his sidestep.

I don't know about the Cyril comparison, but he has X factor and could be anything.

Get him to chase, tackle & smother like Cyril and go from there 😉

In a year where we should be playing finals? Nice to see where your standards have dropped to.
My standards haven't changed, but my expectations have. Do you think the team we fielded last night is a finals-quality side at this point? Nine players with less than 20 games under their belts, at least a couple who look to be cooked and nobody in reserve to take their places.

Agree should be kinda c graders, a player loved by supporters, valuable contributors, and often a role player, but not really known or respected in the same way outside.

Mates and I have discussed before… for most commentators the criteria for a cult hero is seemingly a terrible haircut or, more commonly, a person of colour.
It’s become a strange label/descriptor. I remember watching a hawks dons game maybe 4 years back and the commentators were repeatedly referring CJ and AMT as cult heros, sometimes in the same passage, and waaaay more than it needed to be said. Really awkward.

Cooper Lord is an inside mid and a run with player. If Walsh plays next week, play him on the wing. If Cerra comes back, he can swap out with Crippa (who should play forward more and more). Do not put Lord on a wing. Do not play him as sub.

Also, credit where credit is due, Austin nailed the Cooper Lord pick. And I think he got the Flynn Young pick right as well (just needs a preseason). Also, he seems to have nailed the Frank the Tank pick. So, well done Austin
Keep carrying on with that measured positivity you'll get yourself banned.
