Not like it’s easier for Adelaide to do a deal . 2 firsts is crap and I don’t think they will give up better players then Berry/Whitlock themselves.

Unless Saints can talk Soligo into moving I don’t see how it would be worthwhile
We might need to trade out a few fringe players to get in extra draft capital. That way we might be able to bundle up an attractive points package for another 1st this year from a side looking to offload theirs to gain extra points. So then offer that 1st, our 1st and 2026 1st.

I could see Sam Berry for Leek Aleer. Lachie Sholl and Taylor to get another and going 3 firsts plus Aleer for NAS

When a big name player leaves it's nearly always to chase success which is why when they nominate their home state they pick the club in the better position 9 times out of 10. Big name players get offered similar money across clubs so the contending team is more attractive. Fringe players chase the money. FA is a bit different but even with that, the big name ones usually end up at a contending team. It's the nature of the beast.

The Crows have always been the logical choice and the longer the season goes the more attractive they've looked. Adelaide is tiny.. if he wants to hang out with his Port mates, hell even possibly live with them, there's nothing stopping him doing that. I've always thought it would be the Crows but I guess time will tell.
How many of them move at the age of 22 though?

Big name players are usually 26/27 and looking for imminent success. At 22 either club could get their shit together in the next decade so it's kinda moot

Worrell has to be in play.
Local saints Bentleigh boy.
I think all things being equal he would want to stay, plus he is contracted, but the saints need to get crafty. Offer him 800k a year, when he is likey on 400k at Adelaide and shake the tree a bit. Now, as a Crows supporter, he has to stay, but the Saints need to try anything. Adelaide put a big offer to their player, so they should do the same.
Even Butts. He is an excellent defender and is now in the 2nds after his injury. Offer him 700k as he would be the Saints best big defender. Again, he is contracted, but go for it.

Disagree that it's moot. Nothing is a given in terms of success. Why not give yourself that immediate chance. If a player is looking at the two SA clubs lists and long term prospects, the Crows list at least in my opinion looks hands down better positioned for success and not just short term. That list is well positioned for an extended run playing finals. That's generally what happens when a club rebuilds and spends years at the bottom amassing top end talent and prioritising the draft versus a team which has been contending for a long period and probably needs to start prioritising the draft itself.

Not trying to turn this into a pissing contest between SA supporters or a huge debate on list quality, just stating my opinion. The money for NAS will be similar across the 3 clubs. He'll very likely choose the club he sees the most chance at success at. History has shown us this is what happens. And yes at 22 it's rare but I don't think the age changes anything as in the blink of an eye a career can be over without success. Why not give yourself that immediate chance. These are the kind of things players weigh up. And like I said, the big name players nearly always follow the success, or at least the one they think will be successful.

Therein lies the problem for the Saints.

No one of any value actually wants to go there.

They're going to get shafted.
Unless it involved a 3rd club. I have mentioned earlier in the thread why Rachele is both a good example and a bad one but using him hypothetically, he would generate good draft capital if he went to another Vic club that could then be used in a trade with say our 1st and F1. The hard part would be convincing him to leave Adelaide considering he was one of the first to sign on long term and the club looks like its set to challenge in the coming years.

Rachele isn't going. He loves Adelaide and is playing with Soligo. Why would he swap teams unless the Saints offer him a massive contract to make him think about it?

Have you been living under a rock?

Saints have been offering crazy money to anybody and everyone.

They're like the fat chick at the school disco.

Sure, but the player also has to want to leave, and he is contracted. His best mate is Soligo and they want to play their careers out together, which is why they both signed the same long term contract at the same time.
Now having said that, St Kilda should absolutely throw a big offer to him or another Victorian player that the Crows have to try and shake the tree. Players like Worrell, Soligo, Rachele etc.
They are all in contract and Adelaide could just say no, but unless you ask the question you dont know.

I guess it's possible that they were living together when they were both at Port, and then Frampton continued to stay there after he left..
Ladhams got himself into mischief during Covid having a "little party". Apparently Frampton was in the house at the time "in his room"

So yeah, that's how it would've unfolded

Current year 1st more valuable than future 1st in compromised draft with Tasmanian team.

Whichever team he selects will get a deal done & Soligo won't be going anywhere!

What do Adelaide fans think they trade away
Next 2x 1st rounders for starters, then depends on whether Saints interested in any of our tradeable players. Mainly picks though.
