First time at the SCG, fantastic place to watch the footy.

Was very impressed with Jack Martin today. Does not deviate off line ever in a contest. Think he might be a big plus for us heading into finals.

Just for the ppl that think the SCG is tiny.

"The MCG's dimensions are roughly 160 meters long and 130 meters wide, while the SCG is around 155 meters long and 136 meters wide"
Interesting. I was there a few times in the late 90s and was surprised at your comment as it seemed really short to me but a bit of research came up with this from an article..

Recent decades have seen the league trend towards things being more standard.
For example, the formerly postage stamp sized SCG has been progressively lengthened since 2007. Now, the Swans' home is a pretty typical ground of the "short, wide, high area" variety like the Gabba or MCG.

So the previous poster was kind of correct but his info was dated..

It's why we should never contemplate widening GMHBA. Everyone will still call it skinny like the SCG is still the short ground, regardless of the facts.
Much rather keep our unique ground and revel in the tears of opposition supporters

Things are falling into place for the Cats
Plenty of good signs with this win over Swans
From start Swans showed they wanted a fast game.
Like the manic panic chaos crows v Pies last night.
This suited the quick rebounding Cats just fine
Overcoming Swans 3 goal to level at the break
Cats also were determined in restricting the Swans
Lifting pressure, turning game into an arm-wrestle
Cats forced Swans sideways cutting their scoring.
Cats interceptors dominated long D50 high air ball
Swans only scoring avenue was via leading targets
Meanwhile Cats scored via various means and players
Allowed cats to change tempo and control momentum

Cats are trying to control terms of how game is played
Plan A - Plan B is important for the upcoming finals

Imagine if we'd traded Neale and picks for Waterman last year like so many wanted. Would've been a disaster.

At absolute best, you breakeven performance wise, with a player who is 5 years older on 3x the money.

We have much wiser and smarter heads at the GFC than we have here fortunately.

Except we seem to have a game style more suited to the wider MCG and AO .
At the end of the day, the best teams win anywhere and everywhere

Do you think it'll take 5 years to look back upon that type of trade call and laugh just as we look back fondly & laugh at the trade call of Hawkins for Michael Walters back in 13/14?

For those who may not have kept up with proceedings from Tassie, Vlastuinwas subbed out with an ankle injury

While we know Richmond would love to cause an upset next week, surely don't unnecessarily risk a key player in your last match of the season and instead make sure he is right for the pre-season

Sounds like his ankle is broken so no.
Speaking of us surely we give bews a farewell game vs Richmond after no vfl game today? Will be interesting to see if we rest anyone else next week.

For the sake of symmetry, let's hope it's 5 weeks.

Would love nothing more than Shannon tearing apart a finals series on the way to a cup.

That kid has worked so hard. They all do, but him more than most. He deserves all the plaudits he gets.

Waterman is a very good player. He would be different in a good side.
But I'm glad we didn't trade neale.

That sucks if it's a broken ankle - never wish serious injury on anyone

Wonder if we rest Henry - subbed out two weeks in a row, maybe go the safe option of a break before finals

We just need David King to do his thing like he did before the 2011 finals series with Hawkins, and it's all but a guarantee.

C'mon, Kingy!

Just to add to The scg debate (I was at the game):

The scg surface is below average and the stadium itself needs upgrades, but as a viewing experience it's one of the best. You're so close to the action. Love it

Also the swans crowds are some of the most good natured and pleasant fans I've ever met, it's a completely different vibe from the MCG games I grew up attending against Collingwood, Carlton, the bombers etc.

That's one way of describing SCG crowds. I would say they lack passion.
