How lightly do you have to hit someone to get it classified as 'low'. Sheesh, medium here is stiff.

Essentially any high contact will be classified as "medium" impact based on the potential to cause injury

Edit - where it's deemed a reportable offence has occurred

Disregard above post. Didn't realise he'd already been given a week.

It's up to the club but I'd challenge the grading. From that vision it's a stretch to say it's medium impact - and it's unclear whether the impact was head high or the player was on the ground because of the side on impact and being winded.

Neale ran past the ball and made contact - that's always hard to defend. But medium impact seems a bit rich.

Not sure it works that way does it. If that was the case then Jai Newcombe would have been suspended when he made high contact with Jeremy Howe. Unintentional by the looks of that incident - but head high

Maybe I should have specified "where a reportable offence has occurred"

Newcome wasn't suspended because it was deemed he was attempting to tackle & his actions weren't reportable

Very rich, extraordinary suspension on that lone angle

Not seeing where the high contact allegedly occurred.

For this to get a week and Sooky Heeney not to even get looked at for going after Shark's face at every opportunity- well, I think it's fair to say that Michael Christian is an unprofessional, petty, and dishonest little flog.

He either guessed, or chosen to see what he wants to see.

My father and I were at the game today, and in unison we just said "this bloke could win you a final".

It almost certainly won't be the traditional 30+ and 3 goals, but he's the type of player in a tight last quarter who bobs up with two crucial goals, or takes the game saving grab above his head.

It's often forgotten, but when he was drafted he was seen as Rioli esque when he was forward, and McLeod like off half back. Basically what we're seeing from NAS right now.

Injuries have potentially cost him a HOF career, but there could still be a few legendary moments on the back nine.
I remember Malcolm Blight (I think) saying Martin was going to be some next-level superstar. He obviously hasn't reached that level, but it gives an indication as to the raw talent the man has. If our club can get the best out of him, who knows how high his ceiling is!?

Havent got to see the game yet - but the final score and margin , given the opposition team were in great form on their home ground , thus i would say it is nearly the Cats best win for the season , i was fully expecting a loss

Its a forum , so everyone is entitle to their opinion and like i say i havent viewed the game yet

What i find most interesting , re the voting - just over 20 contibuted ,12 posters gave Bailey Smith 3 votes and 8 posters didnt give him a vote at all , like i say everyone is entitled to their opinion

That’s some grassy knoll shit right there.

But take the lump and move on I guess..
if that’s medium ima supermodel

Go Catters

Debut him this week and he wouldn't be uncapped in finals

#11 Mitch Edwards

23 disposals, 21 hit-outs (eight to advantage), 17 contested possessions, 11 clearances, three behinds, 129 SuperCoach points

It would be a risk to bring in the uncapped Edwards during the finals, but the second-year ruckman showed he is ready to step up if required following his best performance as a Cat. With Toby Conway injured, Edwards shouldered the ruck duties and dominated against fellow 2023 draftee Will Green. When the 206cm giant wasn’t grabbing the ball straight out of the ruck himself, he was tapping it down a teammate’s throat or following up at ground level. Around the ground Edwards showcased his athleticism with two intercept marks in the space of five minutes and on one occasion turned crumber with a gather and snap on goal that went through for a behind. Edwards was up against an undermanned ruck division but it was certainly a promising display for the future.

If Neale stays suspended we could do worse than give Edwards a taste

Hate to state the obvious but I think Conway might have been picked this week if the sticky tape hadn't have come loose.

I've watched a bit of VFL and I'm not convinced that Henry has exactly been knocking the door down. I suspect he might play but it's not going to be based on strong form at the lower level. The stuff I don't like at AFL level is still on show at VFL level. Half baked tackling and chasing efforts / flying one handed for marks / body language

He isn't alone, a lot of people love Gary Rohan apparently. Some should love him less
Ooooh!

You sound salty that Sam’s grandson has a signed ball from Humphries

Just jokes 😜

That ground should be bulldozed.
Why?

There was a concert last week + it was announced the surface was not AFL standard.

Before the game, ground staff inspected it + attended to rough spots.

SCG is a beautiful ground, I grew up there.

But, no concerts etc, sport only.

Remember going to Olympic Stadium at Homebush for a Sydney -v- Geelong game. The weekend before was a Mac trucks competition. It was worse than a soggy paddock.

At the game yesterday, SCG looked good. Perhaps it was more telling on telly.
