I really hope you win a flag soon. My grandma is 94 and is a die hard Saint so I have a very soft spot for you guys.
No, I am not his grandma…before any one of you beauts ask…
🤣

Additions:
TDK
Aleer
Liam Ryan
Likely three draft picks

Subtractions:
Cordy
Boyd
Jones
Webster
McLennan
Marshall, or Heath (if Marshall stays)

What other additions and subtractions are people looking at? I don't see Arie Schoenmaker making it as an AFL footballer, doesn't have the physical traits imo. Not strong or athletic to be a key defender, not quick or aerobic enough to play outside. I think Byrnes stays if there's an empty list spot for him, if not I'd move him on. I'd try Jack Carroll somewhere besides the midfield, feel like he has the skills. If he's not open to that I'd probably delist him too.

I think we need another full back option if we see Caminiti as a forward. If we want to play him back, we need another depth key forward in case of a King injury. Besides that, just class class class. We've seen what a godsend Max Hall has been, more if his type is a must.

This year we got it right…. 😝
Going to be interesting to see if we can fit all of Steele, Macrae, Wood and Hill in the same team next year. With lot's of youngsters coming through they are really going to need to deliver. Can't be walk up starts anymore.

how much then mate?
Interested to know your opinion
Have put the figures down a dozen times, not doing it again. Go back and find them.
Basically all the figures are speculation and no basis to create a straw man argument.
All we know is we have a shitload of SC space and no SC increases built into contracts.
Have heard TDK 1.7, 1.6, 1.8, 1.3, have heard Aleer 900k, 750k, 600k plus incentives.
Have heard King 1.2 mill front loaded, 1 mill going forward down to only 600-700k because not reaching triggers.
The only people who know for sure are the St.Kilda list managers.

If all 4 of them are best 22 this time next year we probably didn't have a successful 2026
Disagree, Steele and Macrae are both AA, Hill still runs harder than anyone in the team, Wood is the only one probably as depth.
If we replace all four we are in a bloody good spot.

You may not have seen on the TV but he chased from our forward line all the way up to the wing at one point.
I don't doubt his effort for one minute he just always seems to be where the ball ain't - maybe he needs to position himself in better spaces, doesn't read the ball that well???

Yes I agree.

Assuming we land all of TDK, Rya and Aleer, and hopefully the "Mystery Mid". in 2026 the Selection Strategy is most likely going to change, or at least it will in the first half of the year to picking the 23 each week that is most likely going to win. It is going to be more about the now, than the long-term.

The Club looks to be pushing to play finals in 2026, and in doing so to impress other potential targets from other Clubs to to sign on with us for 2027+

And then to hopefully continue that momentum in 2027 so that Nas signs on again.

New young recruits arriving in the 2026 Draft may find it harder than it has been in recent seasons for young recruits to crack into the seniors for a run of games.

Our heavy drafting in recent seasons will now have large batch of young players who are physically mature in 2026.
ie Keeler. And the young Boxshall will be a bigger unit too.

Some of our older players will be under more pressure to keep playing well to stay in the 23.

We have in recent seasons seen players like Pou playing long stretches of games in the seniors when there form did not warrant in, in order to fastrack their development. In 2026 I doubt this will happen, unless the team falls off the hoped for pace.

Positions in our first 22 are going to be hotly contested.

That is not to say that the Club will not do things like rest Marshall fora game here and there to give Dodson a run.

Great value
Yep...the feckin' gift that just kept on taking 🙄

Aleer didn’t play directly on Sharman all day.

He was out marked on Sharman and then a little Later on he was out marking Keeler
Definitely looked like he was on Sharman for the most part of it. Started next to him at the first centre bounce and was with him more than anyone else when the ball went forward.

Either way, I don't think you are giving near enough credit to Caminiti, who kept Cadman to 6 touches and 0 score.

Cadman has been in very good form over the last 6 weeks, averaging 3 goals a game.

Who knows if Aleer even gets a game but there’s no doubt we need some key defender support. I think Caminiti ends up forward long term but at least if he needs to go there short term we’ve got some other options instead of being so Howard reliant.

One thing we don’t have is a long term 200cm defender which I think we’re going to need coming up against Sam Darcy, Thilthorpe, Ben King etc. That needs to be on the shopping list.
There’s no room for him up forward
