IMO the turning point was getting caught HTB by Frost vs Melbourne when he got his jumper torn off him in a sling tackle around 2019 I think. He never took the game on or backed his pace in again after that.
Lol I literally think of that moment every time I see Petch’s name.

That was probably the first time he got run down and it was like he thought “oh shit, maybe I’m not that fast” and never tried to use his pace again.

He’s got multi year offers from Vic clubs.
Be very surprised if he up and leaves after finally showing something.

There was zero interest just a couple of months ago, according to Twomey.

I daresay a couple of clubs showing interest due to him being close with Harley and having the same agent.

The people who should be most worried are the medical staff. With Jamo gone you would think at least 3 would be made redundant.
Plus the groundsman for the second oval, it’ll be in ripping nick.

Wouldn't mind if we offloaded BWill. I don't see a spot for him longterm
I can't see that happening until next year if we can get a competent ruck in the trade period.
Looks like Reidy in maybe the only viable option.
Flynn, A Reid, BW, Livingstone maybe gets a 1 year.
2026 BW traded and we get left with Reidy, Flynn, A Reid.

I think everyone agrees we need to upgrade the ruck. If there’s a viable option please enlighten us?
The teams with dominant rucks, Melbourne, Collingwood, Bulldogs, maybe the second stringer would welcome an opportunity. Rowan Marshall maybe disgruntled and make a move, would be a good pickup.

I know their last names start with the same letter but I don't think I've ever seen two more dissimilar looking indigenous players get mixed up so often.

The bloke who just took MOTY? That's Ryan. The little pork chop who called for the trainer after running over to give a high 5? That's Rioli.

He's talking about BT getting them mixed up, FFS Vish.

Exactly, we don't need picks we need best 22 players and if STK want contracted Ryan then give up a player of equal value like Wilson or we can add a bit to get the right player.
Marshall, Windhager, Wilson would be the starting point or no deal.
We could pay overs in $$ to get the required target we want, just like STK are for Ryan.
On Wilson, it's funny that across the league, as soon as a player sooks it up about not playing enough or being dropped and maybe looking elsewhere, they start playing a lot more.
Erasmus, Wilson, Davies etc. Coincidence

Yes, seems some players/agents have a little pull more than they should.
More than happy to accommodate a couple of decent players like Davies and Wilson though.

I always thought that Liam Ryan looked more like Denzel Washington and Michael Jordan

Apart from the night life, Perth is a nicer place to live than Melbourne hands down. I've lived in Melbourne, it's blody freezing cold with grey skies even in summer. Their beaches are crap compared to ours as well. People banging on about go home factor need to realise how much Perth has to offer.

How many of our recent Vic/interstate draftees have gone home rather than re-signing recently? I can't think of a single one.

We've talked about Murphy Reid ad nauseum but we could have a potential rising star on our list, as opposed to a player that the jury is still well and truly out on, because we were too chicken s**t to back ourselves in.

Perth rules. Melbourne drools.
One thing that never gets brought up is the flight time across time zones... and long term impact on players and their desire to do so.. I am melbourne born and bred eagles supporter but for work for 10 years i spent the last week of each calendar month in Perth.. and the travel fatigue/jet lag is a pain in the ass and I was completely over it.. its much easier travelling north to south (melb / bris) with no time difference

I think the other difference between both locations is opportunity post football.. Perth is a boom/bust market whereas there is a lot more commercial and corporate opportunities back in Melbourne and there is 10 vs 2 clubs in terms of post playing opportunity in terms of working in a coaching/managerial role at afl level

Might get a cheeky F2 for him.!
F2 are likely to hold significantly more value than the last few years. If Richmond offered their F2 for example that’s likely pick 19 or 20.

I suspect IF he requested a trade we’d get a similar player back. Unfortunately I can see Clark tickling Richmond’s ball sack again and swapping Chesser for Blight despite the fact that Blight will likely be a DFA.

Sharp at P.1 does worry me a bit. His profile says he likes to be stationary at CBs.I think we need mids with speed.
We already do “stationary” without any more
