Matt Rowell needs 5 clangers to overtake the NWM 2 million dollar man as top of the clangers this year.

The two biggest signings of this year. NWM and Harley Reid are 1 and 2. Reid has done this in 19 games though.
NWM is 4th in effective kicks though and Reid 175th.
thats the context that needs to be taken into account with NWM, similar to Dayne Zorko, they bite off daring kicks a lot.

The top 3 are all Bulldogs, then Dale is 6th. Something to keep their supporters satiated until next season.
It's a rating system that gives you points for contributing to scoring while failing to give you points for, for the most part preventing the opposition from scoring, though both are equally as important. And fair enough - how do you give points (distributed fairly among the players on the team) for something intangible, like how you position your body to influence opposition decision making? An opposition forward might lead to the pocket and not the corridor because you are defending well by blocking the corridor space wise.

The Dogs were rank 1 for points for and rank 8 for points against. We don't literally think that Bailey Dale is a top 2 medium defender in the league because we fairly downgrade his player value somewhat because he does less defending and/or is less good at defending (partially contributing to that rank 8 points against) compared to other medium defenders in the league.

Where did I complain? I said Dogs supporters should be happy and it appears they are.

No, we don't think that the ranking of the players is cause to be happy because we don't believe them to be an accurate representation of the player value on the 2025 season.

If the team was picked on champion data stats it would be full of ruck men & midfielders only. That voting system is so out of whack for anyone outside of this type of player it’s not funny.

Some of the shit that guy spits out is laughable.
There is some useful analysis, but need to understand the flaws of their system. Ie. Effective Possessions are considered gold but i wouldn't be selecting Milera over Michalanney who nullifies most of his opponents.

I know dogs don't deserve any more nominations but a shout out to Rhylee West year 39 goals 23 goal assists (only player in the top 5 over 30 goals.) and 73 forward 50 ground ball gets with 2nd on 50 Shai Bolton and 3rd Higgins. Also 2nd in tackles inside forward 50 in the comp.
West is more deserving of AA than Darcy and Libba

Darcy can’t make the final list, surely

Incredibly promising, and will probably explode next year

But all Australian this year? No.
Who else gets squeezed out here?

Brayshaw? Stats awesome, but maybe a bit flattered because Serong kept drawing the tag?

Butters maybe? Absolute gun, but feels like it has been a bit of an up and down season (having said that if I was actually picking an Australian team to take on the world I’d probably be picking him)

Josh Daicos, Jamie Elliott – awesome early in the season, but have they tailed off a bit? Maybe I haven’t been watching Collingwood closely enough.

Elliot should and will make it. Basically the only small fwd kicking 50+ goals, higgins left out of the squad, Elliot never being an AA and buckley on the panel all points to an Elliot selection.

Elliott definitely the last 6-8 weeks.

Josh was phenomenal thru round 22.

Got tagged by Murphy from Adelaide but will still solid in that game, highly contested wet game, so all players stats down, then against Melbourne Langdon rotated tag on Nick and at times Josh , but he still had 572 metres gained. So dropped off a little in terms of possession, but impact still pretty good.

I’ll say it again , not that it’s the only measure, but of all defenders tall or small in the squad only NWM got more coaches votes. Josh got 55 which means significant impact in games across season. Clark from Freo closest too him in the low 40’s.
