Harris Andrews was also a valid candidate for Captain as was Noah Anderson but to select Cameron is utter bullshit
Feel like they made this choice for media clickbait and the memes.

Five actual club captains in the team (Dawson, Noah Anderson, Harris Andrews, Max Gawn, Bont) and they pick the one guy who by his own admission has never been a captain of anything.

Honestly has there been a worse CEO than Dillon? The bloke is a clown

Flaky, no backbone and just goes whichever way the wind blows. The guy reminds me of the classic 'middle to upper' manager you see in a large corporate.

The guy that always has a fluff gold pass role like 'Head of strategic partnership acquisition' but you never quite know exactly what he does or how he got there.

Cannot believe this passes muster for being CEO of the VFL now....

Random decision for captain
Random is the right description!

The AA selectors are mostly a very ordinary bunch, who know less than the average punter.

Dill-on really has been running the AFL into the ground with his decision making.

For reference: Andrew Dillon (chair), Laura Kane, Kane Cornes, Glen Jakovich, Nathan Buckley, Abbey Holmes, Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Matthew Pavlich.

Dud
Dud
Okay, we hate him but he has some football cred at least
Meat head
Good
What?
Good
Never been remotely impressed by him
Good

So only 3.5 out of 9 have any business being near this panel.
There in lies the problem.

Dill-on keeps choosing people completely out of depth for their role.

The sooner he ****s off from the AFL, the better.

He’s bad, but he’s following Gill and Demetriou, both of whom were fantastic at making money and squeezing governments, but bad at running the comp fairly.

AFL governance has been terrible for ages. Goyder has been terrible, the Commission has let the exec get out of control since Demetriou.

Demetriou was at least a smart prick, but it's been dumbed down since

He’s crafty. Has been an abject, embarrassing failure in the corporate world since leaving the AFL.

thats because he failed upwards. The AFL as Australias most popular sport was easy to manipulate for financial gain. He had crowd bonuses in his contract. So what did he do, make rivalries a certain 2 games per year, he signed a stupid length absurd contract with the MCC for finals. But he ****ed over so many people and clubs that were not victorian, he embarrassed himself. Its no wonder he was such a **** up in the private world. This is what happens when shit is promoted from within to keep a pathetic amateur boys club culture. He is by far the worst administrator the AFL has ever had. No question. Absolute self entitled s**tstain.

Anyone else listen to Kane on SEN this morning. Did he talk about his selections? Only just tuned in.
Could not think of a worse way to start my day.

Yeah, a bit, defended Battles selection based on his record against the best forwards. Cameron captain as recognition.

If you go on the app, listen to their podcasts, better than listening to all their adds and can skim through the bullshit.

It's hilarious that a guy who has never been captain of any side in his life was named AA captain.

Especially witj so many club captains in the side.

Worrall missing out a joke.

Our backline is probably better than the AA one..
So let’s just hold everything else equal, but assume Dawson played for Geelong and Cameron played for the Crows.

Who gets named AA Captain?

It's hilarious too because Cameron seems like the kind of bloke that actually hates being fawned over. Like I think he was genuinely embarrassed. The media all want to glaze him and he just wants to mind his own business and kick snags.

Then they get him up for the speech and the official line of questioning is "How funny's this! You've never captained before but you've been named captain!"

Is this a serious award or is it a boy's night muck around?

I think the AFL has not only jumped the shark but once jumping the shark it has gone and done it the other way.

It has literally been a cluster**** for the AFL hierarchy this year. You name it and they have found a way to balls it up but when you find out it is headed by those with legal expertise, well what would you expect.

It's the latter unfortunately.

Anytime you have an award judged by people in the media or corporate roles disconnected from the day to day club scene, it cannot be considered seriously. Same with the Brownlow.

Coaches Awards and any judged by your peers would/should be far more valued than an AA blazer.

I was surprised when Worrall wasn't selected in the team. Cant understand it. Then when the AA captain was announced I was gobsmacked. I could have accepted Noah Anderson or Bont but would have been disappointed. Cameron should not have been the AA captain.

For me its becoming more of a recognition for "good service" to the game and not about the qualities that a captain must have. Dawson should have had this honour bestowed on him. Even the players themself were of the same opinion.
