Score involvements? Give me the forward who kicks more goals on a consistent basis.Curnow is a better player than King who has pretty much zero impact outside of the 30m zone from goal. If he doesn't get silver service to him he's pretty much a non-factor as a forward. That's not to say he isn't a good forward but the gap in impact as overall players between them over the last few years is significant. Even in 2025 which was Curnow's poorest year since returning from a serious knee injury he was able to average more score involvements than King despite being in a significantly poorer performing team.
Score involvements*:
2025 (Curnow - 5.4, King - 5.2)
2024 (Curnow - 7.1, King - 5.0)
2023 (Curnow - 7.6, King - 4.5)
*Curnow was a top 11 player for score involvements in the comp in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Score involvements takes into account goals as well. But Charlie Curnow is much more than just goals. And King kicked more goals this year sure but not 2023 or 2024.Score involvements? Give me the forward who kicks more goals on a consistent basis.
That’s King by the way
Tom was presented with a once in a lifetime, life changing financial decision, exceptional circumstances if you will.
Like Kerry Packer once said, "You only get one Alan Bond in your lifetime" ", in this case "You only get one St KIlda in your lifetime".
Charlie's the better player, hands down. I would be very hesitant to let him go, regardless of what he's saying now.Score involvements takes into account goals as well. But Charlie Curnow is much more than just goals. And King kicked more goals this year sure but not 2023 or 2024.

Yep, you are probably right. However, I don't think there is as big of a gap as you think.Charlie's the better player, hands down
yep, fascinating but the want to leave doesn't bother me, that can be overcome, we've had players wanted to leave going all the way back to the 70s who the club stood firm on and turned them around.Yep, you are probably right. However, I don't think there is as big of a gap as you think.
We need to think about what this looks like next year and the next few after that.
Charlie is trending down; King is trending up. Sure, easier for a forward to play in a better team overall. But take into account Charlie's attitude (lots of rumours anyway), his injury history of late, his form, his want to leave and what his body has been through over a longer period of time.
If you believe he will be back to his best next year then yes, Charlie is better. If you are like me and have doubts on Charlie's attitude, his injuries and his production in 25, then the gap is closing fast. Sometimes, there is a bit of arrogance about how we rate our own players vs reality. The hard thing is that we don't know what this reality is until we see him in Navy Blue next year (I bet you if he leaves, he will be much better - it's probably exactly what he needs). Hope I am wrong!
It's a fascinating discussion![]()
4) Voss gave Charlie a baking a few times during the season, more-so about his poor off-field attitude. Tipping point was Charlie riding his bike into the North game when he had a minor injury complaint earlier in that week.
Where’s this Ridley chat coming from..?Would take Ridley in our backline if we thought we could get him fit. Gun.
If not, would take Payne, Gardiner or Doedee from Brisbane, basically whichever KPD ends up falling out of favour. They’re all best 22 with us.
With our new found cap space there should be plenty of opportunity to find some bargains this trade period.
This is exactly what we need. The tail has been wagging the dog for so long. I’m all for this and the players being given the ultimatum. Honestly, I’m in the Charlie being traded camp. He isn’t going to get any better. Especially with his reported poor attitude. We need people who play for the monogram on the jumper and not for themselves and the comments from both Weiters and Walsh allude to a change in attitude. Hopefully this is the summer that the CFC grows upWas told the below last night from a recent ex-player... Only passing on what I was told:
1) GW's summary is that the club culture is toxic and needs repairing. Has made it known to the players that none of them are bigger than the club.
2) Players given a 'shape up or ship out' ultimatum, with a focus on team-first mentality
3) Saints front runners for JSOS

5) Behind the scenes, we're open to trading Curnow. Our public position is just the usual fun and games. Will only trade him for well overs. Sydney the front runners.
6) Cripps likely to stand down as Captain. The role has exhausted him mentally, hence his absence in media roles this year.

He gives me different vibes but I won’t say, as there are children posting. It’s giving me “wizard home loans” vibes
