Do you think Wickz that whilst the pact is great to take less to build something successful with this group, that the pact is also about where they’ve stopped? I’d kill for our players to impact a contest the way the Pies did last night

I've said this in the past few days and I stand by it.

The group grew as individuals and mates. They haven't grown as a team.

Love most of this but one thing that does concern me is if we also move on Motlop and McGovern.

Not a huge fan of either, but we are already looking at enormous amount of list change this off season.

Wright himself has said we may have “cut too deep” last year and at a certain point you need to keep some of the fringe types for stability.
TBH, I dont think we'd notice if either were gone. JSOS will leave a bigger hole than McGovern.

Correct. Several of our players were offered approx. 400k more to move elsewhere back when that was the equivalent to a decent best 22 player (i.e. similar money to what we paid Acres to come across) so although performances dropped that's what it's really about.

See above.

Allegedly, some of the group feel like they sacrificed hundreds of thousands of dollars each but we still ended up with the following list turnover:

Out: Ed Curnow (retired), Lachie Plowman, Lochie O'Brien, Zac Fisher, Paddy Dow, Jack Martin, David Cuningham, Caleb Marchbank, Matt Owies, Matt Kennedy, Jack Carroll

In: Elijah Hollands and Nick Haynes. We added Fantasia and Evans late in SSP the last two years. The other additions were all kids who had a low likelihood of helping them win.
Looking at it like that does make it easier to understand some frustration, realistically while a small reset might be better for the club in the long haul the players aren’t leaving the money on the table for the club to set itself up for success after they’ve already moved on, you want to win a flag while you’re playing

Be in no doubt, Wright is calling the shots.
IMO, the implode was always coming once the decision to keep Voss was made.
This will either break or make this club, but what can’t occur, is another 5 years in the wilderness.
Let’s hope GW knows what he is doing.
I'm fine with either scenario.
Obviously i want the miracle cure as the preferred option, but to rebuild you first have to destroy.
If GW doesn't work out, at least we will at least had someone come in with the guts to cut the rot.

I keep thinking back to the video of David Cunningham in his first training session with us, and how he looked very uncomfortable being Bolts' demonstration of team building.

Davey kicks for goal, and it goes through, and Bolts says "that's right, get around him" or words to effect. It all looked awkward and contrived to me. All text book and no genuine bonds being established naturally it looked to me.

Love being linked with Walter. His ceiling is immense. His aggression and willingness to tackle, combined with HOK gives us a formidable f50 for the next 8 years.
In my opinion it’s clear GW is embarking on a mini reset both talent and character wise. If we could pry walter and a pick giving us flexibility to address other needs (ball use) - huge thumbs up for GW’s first summer in charge

I don't know much about Walter

Bring back hair.

I love you, man.

Whole Lotta Love, starts with a cough

Highway Star is pure Purple

Have a look

Ashman, he’s the one

28 min mark, jezza grub kicks to ashman, collects ball, tackled whilst kicking, ball moving forward, ashman headbuts to himself, collects and handballs to mcconville, 1 2 handball back to ashman, left foot kick to Fitzpatrick close to goal.

Last Carlton player to headbut the ball was liam egg man jones.

It don’t matter mate.

Buzz, Kenny Hunter, when they turned up pre-season 1981.

Rod Ashman was the best player at the club.

Ashy is one of our greats, and I think one of the most underrated players ever.
Really didn't like it when a year after he personally handed Ollie Hollands his No.14 Guernsey, Ollie traded it in for No.4.
Seems pretty disrespectful to me.
Hollands will never be half the player Rod Ashman was.
